Dothan 730 arrived thismorning, and it appears to be a goodun! Seller sent a screenie of 2.5ghz with 1.28v, which is 900mhz over stock, on under stock voltage! Running Pi now at 213*12 2556mhz, on 1.4v, though sure it'll run it at a lower voltage. Once a decent stable speed has been found, will post more thoughts and benchmarks. Price : Performance though, the older 715 apears to have the legs on its brother... for now anyway..
Been sitting on my desk for nearly a year now, I don't know if I'm ever gonna get a system together to go with it...only the 1MB core (Banias) so significantly less performance than Dothan, but the power consumption and lack of heat is wonderful
Been playing for a little bit now, for the moment its maxed at 2.57ghz running 1.4v (0.05 above stock, for a ghz overclock :|) Its damn damn fast, coupled with TCCD from the A64 @ 255 2.5,3,3,5 its urinating all over the A64, and most P4's come to that. Will post the screenies later, they're on the other pc atm. Very special 01 compare link too Shadowfx, keep on the loookout, they pop up every now and again, on here and ebay
well there is already a 915mat board if that is what your waiting for. its from aopen but it runn $300us at newegg and thats the cheapest i could find it. here is a 3dmark03 run with a 6800u @stock speeds. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4010426 here is an 3dmark01se run 6800u @stock. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8596648 and here with 6800u@425/1.2ghz (havent tried pushing the card farther just yet. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8606835 the 730 is a nice cpu you are going to hit 2.4ghz with no voltage bump. for me though on my 730 (see sig for rest). i have to raise the voltage for higher... i really am not sure how much since i wanted to see how high it would go with 1.6v in bios (asusprobe/mbm5 reads 1.58v idle/1.52-.50 load). the highest i was able to go with the voltage droop was 2.6ghz stable.. 2.7ghz was kinda stable superpi 1m run and anything else wasnt no 3dmark's and dual prime95 would fail. @2.6ghz with 1.6v bios highest i saw was 52 on the asus cooler. I say a page back about wanting to usa a xp120... well the xp90 is easier to mod to mount like the zalman's as in one of the threads at Xtremesystems.org. The guy used L shaped alu and ran bolts throug the clips to the alu L's. to help other out worrying about ram people have had good results with tccd/tcc5/bh5 ram.
The scary thing is that Highland3r nearly has that beat with a 9800Pro... http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8607190 These Dothans are ridiculously fast, and just lap up bandwidth. I can't wait to see what happens when he gets my BH-5 *prod*
yea but that sounds like a highly modded card... since im borrowing the card, im going to be 24/7 with 6600gt.. eh... im going to be saveing after i get the el rev2 sticks for one of the new ati or nvidia cards...
Not uberly modded, runs 24/7 stable @ 465/375 which gives a tad over 26k Annoyingly its hit a wall @ 2.57ghz now, no idea why.
OK, I ment when boards are more common - therefore, cheaper Might get the chip in a few weeks, if i see one, mwhahah.
Might have a 715 and P4C800 deluxe up for sale if this buyer doesnt get back to me soon, look out for a forsale thread next week
now that i actually have all the parts apart from teh adapter i was just curious what bios you are running if you are in fact still using the P4P800 SE? ta felix
@ Highland3r : check again some your bench findings about down_mentioned! WinRAR´s built_in benchmark & hardware test" is NOT a Data Compression Bench : My own research article "about BENCH´ING MEMORY -real life" with WinRAR´s built_in benchmark & hardware test" - some tests/benchmarks & explanation HOW IT WORKS, is here directly: [ http://freeweb.siol.net/jerman55/HP/benchMem.htm ] [especially the yellow column is interesting!] Study it slowly & a bit "deeply", won´t hurt ... IMHO, some suggestions never hurts ... -- Regards, http://www.spajky.vze.com ... the member of "Silent AirCooled Computer Owners Team" (with inaudible setup, Tualatin on BX) ...
Nice report Cheers for the heads up mate Always assumed it was compressing something, kinda makes sense it isnt, as different hdd's don't affect speeds
