my friend just got a HP TX1000 tablet, and we were ripping some music when the DVD drive started making a loud buzzing. it sounded like a cell phone was vibrating on the laptop deck, but a little slower in frequency. he said that its normal but he hasn't had the laptop that long and he's not that knowlegable about computers (yet). should we be worried about this or is it common for this model/drive?

Sounds like it's just a noisy drive, you get them. As long as it's quiet during slower access (playing CDs etc.) I wouldn't worry about it.

I get that with my acer when its on a hard surface but after a nudge it stops, it should be nothing to worry about.

the laptop was sitting on a soft surface and it kept vibrating after i held it down. does your vibrate with a lot of gusto? this was violent enough for me to worry about the HDD if it was exposed to prolonged vibration

My Dell e1705 never vibrates because of the hdd....I'd at least run a diagnostic on it and see if it passes.
