http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1430316&Sku=M975-1048 looked nice, all I need for an affordable price. I cant find battery life anywhere on the page, but other then that it looks like a decent buy. down the road im looking at another 256 or maybe a 512 ram increase. and probobly a wifi card when I can find a good deal on one. any forseeable issues? how is the thinkpad? anyone else own one?
The harddisk will be WELL SLOW and you'll need another 256meg ram just to stay sane. I used the same spec at work but with a 20gig harddisk and it was somewhat stressful if I did anything other than internet surf and type word documents.
It's better than my laptop. I say go for it. I have 128 megs of RAM, a 4gb hard drive, and a HORRIBLE screen. And i'm sane. *twitch* It's not bad for that price, and Lenovos are usually good.
If it's not too late, I'd like to put my 2 cents in. $400 for 4.5-5 year old refurbished laptop?? Add another $200 or so and you can probably get a decent basic dell notebook. You don't know what's been refurbished. You don't know how much use the harddrive saw. You don't know how much life the LCD backlight still has in it... You don't know the status of the internals. I have a laptop from around the same tim e(800MHz P3) and it developed heatpad issues after the third year. Plus, tigerdirect isn't the most reputable vendor. I say tread carefully. Plus, since it's running Windows 98se, it suggests it's about 5 years old or greater, before ME was released.
Dell Inspiron 6000 I have a laptop, but i have another main system. My laptop: Dell Inspiron 6000 Intel Pentium M 1.5 Ghz. 60gb Hard Drive 5400rpm 512mb of RAM ATI x300 64mb vid card (gives me 100fps in cs 1.6) 15.4 inch lcd "sig" snipped - Mister_tad
ok, seriously, you need to read your PMs stop appending your system to every post you make, put it in a sig, use SIZE=1 tags and keep it to 3-4 lines
