I just thought I would give all ye locals a heads up on the new Maplin's store opening 16th September, it's just off the Botley road where Jewsons and Currys are. I'm definately going to make use of it :)

    YES! Brilliant!

Thanks for the heads up - the closest used to be Reading, right?

Cool, thought it would be useful to others :)

Yer tons of parking, you got Currys, Harveys, Jewsons and these three new stores (including Maplins) sharing a big car park, then Argos, Toy R' Us, Comet and Wicks that share another big one. You wont struggle for parking.

Edit:\ Why did it take so long for them to set up an Oxford store, I smell conspiracy! :worried:

    Quality.
Wish they'd open some stores like that in Didcot/Abingdon.

I wish Maplins would actually have in stock what I need... :sigh: Generally, I find shopping with them not a rewarding experience.

Still, like with PC World, occasionally you come across a real bargain.

Worst move Maplin made was to shut their warehouse shop near me, some stupid H&S reason like idiot geeks getting run over by delivery lorries all the time. Pokey little hole, nothing much to see but give them your list and they'd fetch it. Now they've a couple of big new toyshops at Barnsley and Doncaster, have they got a TIP122, have they ****. :sigh:

Wish it had opened when I was in Oxford last year, I was working at Avis at the time on the botley road adn would have driven passed it ( prob going in too! ) about 10 times a day, has one of the other stores shut down to take it's place like that army surplus shop?
