Evening all, I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks now, silently salivating over the majority of projects on here and thought it was time to say hello.... i've recently got involved in the modding scene and have a basic scratch build under my belt. I'm just in the planning stages for a WHS Media Server build in a G5 case - I'm planing on having it out on view so want to make it look as good as my skills allow! Please excuse the poor sketch-up skills i've only been using it for a couple of days......thanks must go to Jezmck & everyone else who contributes to the SCC - i'd never have been able to produce even this rough layout without their components...... I'm looking to have 6 x 2Tb HDD (& a small ish SSD not yet in pic) Want to use the I3 CPU & a H55 ATX mobo as I used the combo in my HTPC Scratch build and i'm impressed with the performance. Will also be including a Bluray reader to rip and store my existing BR & DVD collection. Well, thanks for reading and I'll apologise now for the inevitable stream of questions i'll be asking as the planning & eventual building progresses lol
Google Picasa is a good pic hosting website. Once you've uploaded the pics to Picasa you can enter the link into the insert image button on this forum.
Cheers riekmaharg - will look into that tonight, atm the pic is on my personal album here on bit-tech, will sort out picasa and repost a bigger pic!
I know the exterior needs looking at but thats the general layout im looking for inside......I'm gonna make a resin 'holder' for the HDD's after seeing jj_sky5000's Intel ICE
Maybe think a little more about hard drive positioning to improve airflow to them and the rest of the case. Are you planning on a 12TB RAID0?
@Brian - Havent thought to far into cooling - am planning on using this as my WHS Media Server so the HDD's will form part of the storage pool @riekmaharg - will see if i can post it up here later when im back at home.
So the case is bought & on the way £70 from Ebay....Once thats here ill have a better idea of fitting everything in etc. I've found a few guides on here & elsewhere dis-assemble it etc. Cant wait to get my hands on it!
