I just got another stick of samsung PC2100 CAS 3 DDR memory for my system. Before I put it in, my system would go up to 151FSB and was pretty stable although I did have a few BSOD's.

Since I put my new memory I can't get into windows above 140FSB :cries:

It starts to load then restarts itself back to POST. Specs are in Sig and my V core is already at 1.85v any idea's?????

No... but i ran the first stick on it's own without cooling and it was fine at 151FSB? I will try cooling them, any products you can suggest?

No cooling whatsoever is actually needed on the memory unless you are upping the voltages to 3v and above..........

The A7V266-E has no separate ram voltage adjustment, only I/O adjustment, which doesnt help :(

If I understand rightly you used to be able to get 150+ fsb with 1 stick of memory then you added another and only get 140 fsb?
If so 2100ddr is rated to 133 fsb (although samsung memory is a good overclocker) you may have been unlucky to get a baddish batch, not all memory is created equal. Also some motherboards have trouble with more than 1 stick of ram i.e iwill 333. A sugguestion would to upgrade the bios, if another is available or to backwards on the bios.

as herbs said, might have been a bad batch...well thats what it sounds like anyway....

its the same with the ram on graphics card, except when you buy a gainward gcard if u get the right one, they will have tested the ram that is on there out to see wether it will overclock well so they can gurantee that....

i dont know about any ram producers out there apart from mushkin who do the same....

you must have been lucky the first time and unlucky the second time...

i got my crucial 512stick to 158fsb no probs but then i had to back down on the cas latency to get more out of it....

I just updated to BIOS 1007 and well it wasn't fun!! I restarted after update and set the FSB to 150....... A few memory error beeps later and I realised that this wasn't good :)

So I turned off the PSU to reset BIOS (nice feature) and was stuck in the BIOS for 10 minutes. :eeek:

The problem was my USB keyboard wasn't responding, it's done this before and I have just reset to get it to work. This time however everytime I pressed the reset button I would get no system activity at all!

After 10 minutes of pure arse leakage I decided to try my old PS2 keyboard and low and behold it worked, I set the FSB back to default and here I am. :D

A new feature has been added to the BIOS called "Load Performace" whats this?? I tried to enable it and my PC just froze loading windows again so I'm guessing it's FSB related?

how can I RMA the ram it's not as if I can just walk in the store and said it doesn't overclock I want a new stick. :eyebrow:

i have noticed by checking the Asus NG, ppl seem to have quite a few problems with samsung memory. i also noted that if anyone 9like me) has a A7V 333 board, and 2/3 sticks of PC2700 it is advisable to upgrade your bios to 1006. as any bios below that won't support full speed 333, instead it will revert back to 266
