Im thinking of Upgrading whilst i can still get a decent price for my existing Gear on Ebay. Thinking of going Intel 1155, but want to get the Form Factor down to MATX, as I want to get a smaller case. Looking at Getting somethign that has USB support and Sata 6Gb, ideally 4 Ram Slots, so that i can slowly upgrade the ram with lots of smaller sticks rather than forking out for Larger Sticks Straight away. Budget wise, im looking at around £100 depending on what processor i decide to put in, tempted to get an overclockable board as have tinkered with exisitng setup, but have read that H67 Chipsets can't be overclocked?? Have seen the biostar http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2011/06/21/biostar-tp67xe-b3-review/1 board review on the site and all in all it looks pretty good, but i have no experience of the relablilty of these boards... Any Ideas guys? Cheers
Maybe think a bit higher ? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...-20-(x16)-ddr3-1866-2200-sata-6gb-s-raid-matx And yes, H61/H67 means no OC.
Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z all the way ... a bit over your price tag, but damn good board http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2011/07/18/asus-maximus-iv-gene-z/1
PS: And what is your problem with the RAM when you can get a 4x4GB kit for this low ? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb...00-(1600)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-15v
I agree with the others: You'd have better luck getting a good processor, board and RAM now, especially while Memory is cheap, and then working on other components as you go along. Chuck a 2500K in a good board and enjoy ridiculous performance overheads while you work on a better GPU to throw in there to compliment such an overpowered processor.
Hadn't Really looked at Price of RAM atm was thinking of just keeping my exisitng 2GB stick and upgrade as and when i could,
Oh i agree, new ram it is , im not sure wether its worth getting a Z68, over P67 , i doubt ill ever push the board that hard.....
A z68 board may not overclock as well, The z68 doesn't really preform any better it just has more features.
As Much as the ROG Board looks amazin i think im goona try and get my mits on a ASUS P8P67-M PRO Looks like it will do the job i need it to just fine. Ty for Input.
I'm thinking about getting the same board mate. Let me know if you find any good deals! Your other option by the way is the Gigabyte GA-Z68M-D2H
Best Price on Fleabay is £89.95 with 9.95 Delivery....Still cheaper than scan... the GB one is nice , but like the sideways ports on the Asus and from what i can see on spec there is no usb 3 on the GB board....not that i have any USB 3 stuff.....
Also v.expensive, the only way I could justify it is because of the included soundcard, and none of the reviews I've read seem to touch on how good/bad/different to a discrete sound card it is.
I'll give you my 2p then on the sound. It is far better than standard integrated and sounds better than my old x-fi discrete card, which was very surprising at first but most welcome. I went for this over the MSI GD53 because I knew how good the sound was from the Formula IV I had a little while ago (and I was looking to go smaller anyway).
oooh only £134 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Maximu...6KQ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313414465&sr=8-1 Depending on where you go thats not alot more for alot more board me thinks..... the ASUS P8P67-M PRO is roughly £105.....this may take some serious thought
Thinking about this some more and the possible impact of Bulldozer on the whole thing.... do i wait 6-8 weeks and see if the New AMD's are up to scratch or hope that the New AMD's cause a Intel Price Drop??, Any idea when the newer 1155 chipsets (7X Range) are due for release?
