    Hey

My HP laptop has started to be a little slow when playing the newest games, and as far as I know, it isn't possible to upgrade the gfx in a laptop. But can it be done?

Also, I've understood that my motherboard in the laptop only support up to 2GB of ram, can I upgrade the bus's capacity in some way?

    Thanks in advance.

As far as i know most laptops, you can upgrade the cpu, and there's a few not even sure if they took off or have upgradeable parts yet that you can upgrade the gpu. so as far as upgrading ur laptop, ram and a cpu. other then that its beyond me. I'd suggest building a cheep gaming desk top you can build a decent rig for around $500

Actually, I've thought about it, and have listed some specs:
    CPU: Q6600 (I'll overclock it a little)
HDD: 2x WD Caviar Blue 500GB
    GFX: XFX GeForce GTX 260
    RAM: 2x2 GB 800MHz G.Skill
    PSU: Corsair VX 550W
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen (same like infinity, just a newer edition)

    does that look good?

Yeah, except you forgot a motherboard (and OS). :p

Even if you just didn't list it, the motherboard is a pretty important choice.

Whoa.. Don't know why I missed to write it haha... My mistake..

I've been looking at an ASUS P5Q PRO, isn't that a good one?

Regarding OS, I'll use Vista ;)

Good motherboard, I'd change for a 4870 though, better choice in my opinion. Overall though, excellent choices.

    Thanks :)

Well.. I'll stick with the Nvidia gfx... I've got the best experience with Nvidia, and I'm a bit Nvidia fanboy ;)

Also, I work with graphics (photoshop etc.), so CUDA support would be great ;)

Fair doos, good enough reasoning, in your motherboard price range is also the DFI Lanparty DK P45 T2RS, excellent board and excellent overclocker, look nice too in my opinion.

Ah fair enough, P5Q Pro looks like a great motherboard anyway, you looked at any from the Gigabyte range? Such as the Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3R, cheaper but a great performer.

Remember to get Vista 64-bit. And also, I recommend the Home Premium version.
