I realise there is already a 'Suggest me a phone thread' but I didn't want to hi-jack it.

Its that time of the year when I upgrade my phone, and I'm really out of touch with phones. I'm currently rocking an N95, and I'd like something with similar capabilities.

I'd really like a touch screen, but it also needs real buttons (full querty would also be nice)

    Suggestions please :)

SE Xperia X1 is the bees knees tbh...

800x480 screen res makes netbrowsing on a phone amazingly easy, has a full keyboard too...

the N97 looks quite sweet too, but im not a fan of symbian

HTC TyTn II? Normally I'd recommend HTC Touch HD but since you need full QWERTY keyboard that's the only other choice I see.
    Toshiba G900 maybe?

If I had your requirements I'd try a G1. Won't get me near a WinMo device again!

xperia x1... BOO poorly laid out keyboard and unreliable.

I've recently coughed up for the dev version of the G1 and shall be reporting when it arrives. In the mean time, how do you use your current phone and how do you see yourself using it in the next 18 months?

Cheers for the feedback, budget wise, free, I've had the contract a good few years and can normally sweet talk the good folks at o2 into giving me a recent-ish phone for nothing :)

The querty keyboard isn't essential, but it's gotta have real buttons if its got a touch screen.

The HTC touch pro does look good, but I'm not sure I'll be able to wangle that one at no extra cost, I'll give it a go though.

Except it has an 1150 mAh battery and a big screen, so it has horrendous battery life.

My brothers are both happy with their n95's, has everything built in, though can't comment on how well everything runs as they just use them for music and regular cell phones... No data plans LOL

I'm planning on buying a new one too, with similar req's...

I choose the HTC S710, it seemed the perfect combo

The N95 was a good phone, but mine is less than a year old and completely crapped out, it crashes a lot, randomly restarts, tells me I don't have a sim card, and just all round fails. I've been gentle with it, dropped it maybe twice, so really unimpressed with the build quality.

Gonna phone them today and see what I can get.

Ask to speak to there retention department, that’s what I do with Orange, just wait till the day your contract runs out and give them a ring, I'm paying £15 a month for a £25/£30 contract and manage to get phones off their £45 range. They said if I ring back in 3 months I can pretty much have any phone I want, rather than just taking a basic one early.

Yeer, my n95 is also playing up, every so often it won't read the memory card, now it won't tell me if I have a txt, the only way of knowing is to go into my inbox, also I dropped it from half a metre and the back plate got damaged so is now held on with sellotape. Even with these problems I do really like it, and could never go back to a something more basic.

One of my brothers is a mechanic so the phone is often in his pocket, or exposed to the work area, and it's been dropped a few times, and he hasn't had a single problem... Maybe just bad luck on your behalf, or good luck on my brothers?

Your already on o2 and are intresed in getting yourself a touch screen phone. Isn't it obvious?

    iPhone

I've had the 1st and 2nd gen and i really couldn't go back to anything else. Got questions about them? Ask away!

Love mine too, but he says that he'd really like something with a physical keyboard. Also, isn't it on Orange rather than O2 over there, or do I just not pay attention?

Only complaint is that the controls in Katamari are a little wonky (same lack of responsiveness that I thought the 360 version had), but that's hardly Apple's fault :hehe: It's really full of win.
