Given that it looks like anyone who was about to purchase parts for a SB build will probably now have an enforced wait of at least 3 months before they can get the Mobo, what new hardware is likely to be unveiled/released in the intervening period??? I believe for example there are some new C400 (?) SSD's being released? Any other hardware likely to come along? SSD's, GPU's, HDD's, Mem etc? Thanks.
"Three months" may be pushing things a little. I'm going to predict mid March. 6 weeks, during which, granted, a lot can happen. More 3TB HDDs maybe, the C400 and maybe a 768MB version of the GTX560? Hopefully, enough pressure on the GTX460 1GB to bring the prices down to £130.
I reckon, given Intel are saying they'll have a silicon fix in the hands of the mobo manufacturers hands "by the end of February", the mobo manufacs then have to implement the new design, test, build stock, ship, and then to your door... got to be closer to 12 weeks for any realistic volume shipments to enable joe-public to buy a single board from a retailer. That said, what's coming along in the next couple of months that we couldn't buy today, but would want to buy if it appeared before Intel and the mobo company's get their act together?
I shouldn't think it would be a motherboard design change, just chip substitution. assuming they all follow the JIT manufacturing model rather than stockpiling, the turnaround should be fairly rapid.
GPU, probably have dried up for new releases SSD, C400, Intel's newer generation of SSD are coming out HDD, more 3TB, expect WD 3TB Green or Sammy 3TB Eco models RAM, expect prices to increase, according to Bindi. not much else to be honest. outside of computers, perhaps a truck loads of different tablets, more TN panel monitors and more 3D TV's. just the usual 2010 push for useless features (3D) and bad copy cats (tablets)
