Hello all iam after a bit of advice. Iam thining of creating a mp3 server inside the shell of a old xbox. I dont know the specs as yet but it would be Mini Itx. I was hoping to include a lcd in the front of the console itself and also try and mount a cd-rom drive where the old xbox one was situated. My main concern with this project is how iam going to mount the hard drive and Cd-rom. Does anyone have any ideas for this project if you do i would love to hear them as i will need some help. I hope to plan this project down to the last nut, before i make any cuts or mods to the case itself. Cheers Richman
i think these are only built for xbox hardware and i dont think they will hold normal pc hardware although i may be wrong Richman
Ah nope nope, if you haven't opened one yet, you wouldnt really know -- The xbox just has a regular hdd in it, nothing special, so you can screw in any one to that, I've got an 80 gb WD for example. The DVD should work just as well, if not you should be able to get away with cutting off the brackets it has, and putting screw holes in it, since it's a snug fit with the brackets. Only thing you'd have to worry about is clearance, depending on what you put in there, you may have to carve up some stuff to get it to fit. Hope that helps, if you want I can take some pics of what they are, or you can prob google it. www.lamma.com has some pics of them too
And actually just thought of this, go to http://forums.xbox-scene.com under the Hardware modding one (first on in the Hardware Section) there's a case in there with an LCD panel on the left side, and the ports relocated to the right
Thanks for that iam getting the shell only you see as i have a nice little plan for it This can be viewed here if you could take some snaps of what the brackets look like this maybe able to give me a clear understanding of what iam trying to do. Thankyou Richman
Looks like you're getting quite a bit "This auction is for an Xbox case, IDE cable and DVD cable, DVD Drive caddy, Hard Drive caddy, internal fan and 6 external screws.(basically includes everything except the CD bezel)" The "caddies" are the pieces i'm referring to, and the dvd cable is the odd yellow power, internal fan is a 70mm running at 7v stock, can be pushed to 12v with proper grounding
