so im in need of a new psu as my last one may have burned out my graphics card (lucky enough got a replacement on the way) and don't want to take the risk, so was looking some advise on what to go for, im looking something that gonna be a solid choice but at a reasonable price

    here is my specs

    Asus MAXIMUS VII RANGER
    Intel Core i5 4690K
    4GB MSI GTX 980
    Fractal Design Define R5
    Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
    64GB Crucial M4
    1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3
    8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
    Corsair H100i

will also be doing some mid to high overclocks

    thx in advance

What is your budget ? I would advise the Corsair RM750i, very solid PSU with 80Plus Gold and 7 years warranty.

I would avoid corsair PSU's now. The older ones were great but the newer ones the quality has dropped.

Have you considered the EVGA GS series ?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Supernova-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B00V5EDNRM

Made by seasonic, fan can be put into eco mode, decent warranty.

I've used a few of the EVGA PSU's in recent builds and I've been impressed by them.

Yea heard mixed things about corsair so think I'll give them a miss and look into the evga one's, do you think 650 watt would be enough or should i go for a 750 watt?

The 750w EVGA units aren't Seasonic iirc.

I love the Seasonic SS-660XP2. 660W platinum supply, fully modular and hybrid fan mode.(Review here.) It's pricy at roughly £120 on Scan, however, I got mine for about £90 when it went into a Today Only offer. It's quiet, rock solid and has peace of mind with a 7 year warranty period. Yes its pricy, but its near enough the best.

However, if its too pricy, then the Silverstone Striders are a good bet. The 650w version comes in at £80 on Scan.

if you get a chance, read about the EVGA Supernova G2 550W here. if that's in ur range, looks like the one to get...amazing performance. make sure it's the g2...7 year warranty and 10/10 from the guru...for some reason, the gs is only $1 cheaper on newegg right now after shipping...fwiw im picking it up as you read this...looks like it is below ur budget...BUY IT NOW

You'd be comfortable with 500w as your rig stands. If you want future proofing in there, I'd get a 600-750w. Anything more is silly as even a 500w is overkill really.

worth mentioning the EVGA PSU's are re-branded SuperFlower PSU's which are steller. And normally a little cheaper.

get the g2, not the gs...while as I understand it seasonic makes the gs, and I usually love seasonic...the unit doesn't test as strong...my advice anyway

Depends on the model of EVGA psu dude, the GS are Seasonic units.
