Dont do it!! You'll only condone the stereotype that women are useless at computers! Have heart and stick with it til your fingers bleed!
hi again, well i got a phone call today from the place that i sent my troubled pc too, and the motherboard is broken! im now trying to get in touch with overclockers to see how i get a refund??? but ive been ringing there support line for 15 mins and still no answer! does anyone actually work there?? its shocking! i will never order anything from there again customer service is a joke
Funnily enough, I started an ocuk thread a day or two ago, here I think *crosses fingers* that I've got sorted, but their customer service sucks. I'll say no more, it's all in the thread. Good luck.
there was someone in the thread on the general discussion thread that said he could rma the motherboard direct to the manufacturer, could i do that?
hahaha yeah, well good news i managed after 2 hours to get through and guess what! because im a girl he was asking me loads of questions trying to make out it was my fault! so i said hold on i sent it to a proffessional and they said the mobo is broken! that soon shut him up teehee so im going to get my money back
Excellent news! Nice one! I daren't be too irritated on the phone to them in case they 'accidentally' delay my order even more just out of spite lol.
I think we can say that OcUK just got owned Out of interest, what sort of questions was he asking to make it sound that way?
hmmm... I wonder if he realises that there are females that can be more into computer stuff than an average computer user or builder
just asking if i had dual channel ram and what other bits i had etc then i just new he was gunna say it was my fault so i butted in and told him i sent it to a professional lol, trust me it sounded like he was trying to make me feel i did somthing wrong
Hmm, to go a little bit offtopic, i have a similar problem. A few months ago (before i broke my leg) I had a s754 athlon 2800 cpu and a brand new Abit KV8 Pro 3rd eye. Eyes filled with glee i assembled these goodies with 2x512mb DDR and a 6800GT. After not getting a video signal for 2 hours (changing RAM, PSU, GFX Card etc) I took out the cpu and noticed a nice burnt spot, plus a knacked pin. So, RMAd the motherboard and bought a new cpu. Today i finally put it all together, and once again i'm frustrated with zero video signal. I've tried 3 known-working gfx cards, 3 known-working sticks of RAM, another PSU (main one is a Targan 430W modular job), and most of the swearwords i know. Nothing. I can't smell burning, but equally am having problems getting the HS off to check the cpu. Aside from the CPU, im at my wits end, and can't believe im having the same issues as i did the first time with either new or known-working kit. Anyone have any suggestions other than the ones listed above?
did you remember to use thermal paste? (or was it pre applied to the hs)... other than that I can only wonder... if the cpu was in its socket the right way? plugged all the needed power cables into mobo and graphics card? no offence... just to make sure... sometimes we can find a very simple reason that no one ever thinks of
Yep, HS came with own thermal paste, and now ive reseated the CPU i can vouch that there's plenty of paste on there. I have the 20pin and the 12v 4pin connector attached, and all accounted for. The only thing some people suggest on the Abit forums is a new PSU, but then this Tagan 430W (TG430-U15) is brand new :/
plenty of paste.... you should really only have a tiny amount ... the pressure by the heat sink will smooth it out over the cpu- not that this would be the problem but just a side note
so wouldn't it have been better to outspeak him yourself and throw diagnostic outcomes at him to turn the tables... bindi, you tried shame she wouldn't listen
