    Hello All,

This is my first time posting here but I have been reading this forum for several months, this place is a wealth of information.

This is my FIRST ever build, so any help would be amazing!

Budget: £500, but prepared to go up to £550 if its worth it.

Main uses of intended build: General day to day use and playing one game: Flight Sim X

Parts required: Case, Mobo, CPU, RAM, Power Supply, GFX

Previous build information (list details of parts): I currently run an old AMD Ahtlon 7750, 2.7GHZ, 3 GB DDR2, Nvidia Gerforce 9500GT and one 500GB HDD and 1 x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3.

Storage requirements: None, already sorted, reusing existing HDD's.

    Will you be overclocking:
Not sure of the real benefits?

I have been looking around Scan tonight and created the following basket, what do you think?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/c517e0a4b2fe4b77b6a4652210b369d7

    Thanks in advance!

I'll do a quick one up.

    Brb

    EDIT: Done
    [IMG]

Now it is a bit more espensive but it would eat the i5 650 for breakfast.

You can ditch the cooler it you wish as well
As said above the 5870 is now going for 130 from XFX
    Saving you 40 pounds

Here is another case that might tickle you fancy.

What he said. I'd gone for a different PSU but you can't argue with this lovely build.

Just to qualify, FSX is very CPU intensive and so the Sandy Bridge i5 will be very very lovely indeed.

agree with murraynt's build if you don't need an os as a i5 2500k will eat a i5 560 for breakfast, and the phenom ii 955 for lunch. If you do need an os however I'd go for the phenom and maybe change the case to a cheaper one to save you a bit of money. then you should be able to afford everything for just over your budget

Wow! Thanks for all the advice guys. I will go away and chew on this for a while. ANother question... how important would you say getting an extra fan in addition to the stock case fan is?

    Thanks guys!

I would agree, if you can stretch your budget or juggle around different components, definately go for the i5-2500K over the i5-650 :thumb:

tbh prefer your build but for £120 you can get a 6850 instead of a GTX 460

That's a bad choice of 460, it's hot and loud.

Only thing to consider it that when you buy that case and fan it's only 4 pounds cheaper than the Antec 100. 4 Pounds isn't much for how long the case will be kept.
