    My parents recently bought a new tv, a Samsung le40r88bd. (They didn't get the Toshiba as I was directed in the other thread because the didn't listen to me)

    It has a function where you can program the remote to control your DVD player and Set-top-box.

    Unfortunately, after much trying we just can't seem to do it.

    Our DVD player is a Sony DAV-SR1.
    Our set-top-box is a Pace Sky Digibox.

    The booklet does not contain model specific codes for either, so I'm a bit stuck.

    Could anyone help us, as it's a pain using 3 remotes?

    Thanks in advance :p

    Not sure, I have got a samsung lcd and none of the codes worked for me.

    An alternative is to see if you could use the sky remote to control tv volume etc. To do that go services and look for the tv remote control option and follow the onscreen instructions. You can search for the tv model and try that.

    :(

    That's not really a solution for us as there are many buttons on the Samsung/DVD remote that are not on the SKy remote. Anybody else?

    Rubbish.. get one with an LCD display like a phillips pronto/equivalent, or one from the logitech range, while they may not have all the buttons all at once, how likely are you in actuality going to use, teletext, 4:3>16:9, etc for example.

    Have a look at the logitech stuff it's pretty amazing and does a very good job of macros for instance to press the DVD button, it'll turn on your DVD player, turn off your sky, and switch your tv to the input required, alter volume accordingly etc etc

    Don't be put off by the lack of physical buttons after all if it's on your samsung remote currently it can damn well be emulated by any other universal/learning remote out there, and do a better job of it too most of the time..

    @Mr.me: of course
    @Lorquis:
    I fail to see how it would do a job better. It cannot really control volume or enter menus "better".

    Looks like a universal remote is the only option.
