It seems somewhat overkill for homework and some Arma but if you really want to spend that much money; RAM wise SBs are dual channel so you'll be looking at 8GB so i would go for 2x4GB the new Corsair Vengence is nice if you want high end ram to go with everything else. The 580s are very fast but make sure you need it before buying, i would peronsally stick with a standard cheapest one now that they have sorted the cooling out, if there are a lot at the same price then look for bundled games or extra warranty. If you are planning at gaming at the res of the Dell then you probably will need one or 2x570s, if you aren't that much of a gamer then just get a 570. SSD the crucial is good alternatively opt for a sandforce based one, if possible get a larger one so you can have OS plus you fav games on it as it really makes a difference. The sound card comes out well so that seems a sensible choice.
all fantastic choices, can't see anything to change. never realised how much my system is worth as new. it's pretty much the same as what you are building, except i've been upgrading over the years, instead of building it in 1 go.
regarding the memory, i'd go for the cheaper one, in most cases, it's the slower one. it doesn't matter a single bit in real-world performance.
Also, now that overclocking is almost entirely multiplier based, there's no need to get fast RAM to allow for a CPU overclock. If anything, slower, low voltage RAM is better as it'll put less load on the memory controller.
I don't have a clue what you want to do with system, but if you're saying that you're just playing ARMA and doing general work, that system is rather overkill...not only that, but there are a few changes you can make that will increase performance and save you money. Drop the 2600K down to a 2500K. For the most part, unless you are doing intensive work, HT won't make a difference. As these two processors clock the same, just go for the 2500K and save your money. Secondly, swap that GTX580 out for a 6950, and flash it to a 6970. If you need the extra performance, buy two; you'll end up with a far faster system, and the graphics setup will cost roughly the same. I don't have a clue how intensive ARMA is, so you'll have to be the judge with that one. Drop the sound card unless you are a bit of an audiophile using higher end equipment; it's a bit pointless otherwise. 4GB of memory should also be enough for gaming and whatnot, so get hold of a 1600MHz kit (for some odd reason, in quite a few places they are the same prices as the 1333MHz stuff). Grab hold of a Hyper 212 Plus or something like that, you don't really need watercooling, certainly can't justify £50 more money for more or less similar performance. Sorry if the reply seems to sound almost notational in form; I'm in a rush! Good luck
