I wasn't sure if this should go here or in hardware so if it's in the wrong place please move it. I saw an add for this card now my question is what will be a better deal this card http://www.shoprbc.com/ca/shop/product_details.php?pid=10918&cid=139 at $145 cdn or an Audigy 2ZS for $152 cdn.
All of the above i would running a Fiberoptic cable to my 7.1 channel amp (SONY DTR-597 i think) which is hooked up to my 6.1 Yamaha NS-106P Speakers. SO basically a DTS complient 600Watt speaker setup.
does the m-audio do DDL encoding on the fly ? and does it have a Toslink Fiber Optic on the card (no dongles).
I don't think you'll want encoding as much as decoding, and the Revo 7.1 does Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding.
in my case yes as i use an optical cable to connect my pc to ym reciver and in games it's only 2.1 not 5.1 as the audio samples are not encoded in a Dolby ac3 format, this card can re-encode Dolby Digital 5.1 audio so i can get 5.1 sound in computer games. And yes i know i could have used analogue cables but i don't want to add anymore cables than i already have to. The other problem is there are very few suppliers of M-audio Products where i live so while this card is available. Although for my MIDI box i will probably go with maudio. BTW i am going from a Snd Blaster Live 5.1. I'll post a review when i get the card and try it out, but thanks for your input.
sounds like you need: http://www.ihda.co.kr./skin/ihda/goods/productView.php?goo_code=010000027136 "HDA Digital X Mystique 7.1 gold is the world's first PCI-based 7.1 Channel Dolby Digital Live certified sound card, supporting Dolby Digital Live Real-Time Contents Encoder. lol, ya so i am so pysched about getting this card should be arriving sometime next week Now i'll have to go kill the baddies in farcry with 700Watts of soundblaring, eardrum bleeding, neighbours calling the police fury
You don't need to spend a lot of money on the soundcard if you're outputting digital. The $25 Chaintech soundcard handles 7.1 channels and has a firmware flash or drivers or something for a bit-perfect optical output.
right, most onboard soundcards can output an already encoded ac3 signal to a dts decoder, but what this card does, i thought i was clear, is ENCODE the input of any audio stream into a ac3 dolby stream so say in computer games you could achieve 5.1 dolby surround sound.
I own this card, and unfortunately it will only encode into Dolby Digital Live! in games, to 2.1 audio. Even says so in the manual. But for movies, it will do 5.1 DDL encoding.
To clear everything up... The x-mystique gold will encode most games to true DD 5.1. If it is only coming out in 2.1 then you either have it setup incorrectly, or you are outputting through the analog jacks. The DDL will ONLY work through the digital output, although I am not sure if this will change with future drivers. There is a problem that the manufacture is working out with FAR CRY... The drivers will not allow it to work with DDL as of yet, sorry. Seems like you'll have to wait on that one. PS: this has to be a record for the shortest thread to person not reading the firstpost ratio I have ever seen.
How easy is it to switch between DD optical out, to stereo analogue? I am thinking of getting this card for use in a PC that moves between my cinema with A/V amp, and my PC room with headphones, respectively. There are no speakers in my PC room. At the moment I'm still using the soundstorm on my NF7-S which I must say sounds good to me on headphones. I haven't tried it yet but I could just use the 5.1 phono jacks on my AV amp for surround. Any ideas which would be better? Stick with the Soundstorm or get the X-Mystique? Would I be better off getting another NF2 motherboard with an optical out, which will probably cost the same as this sound card?
It's very easy to switch from DD optical to stereo analog. Open the control panel, change the setting from digital out to analog, and it automaticly chooses stereo output for you. Here are some photos from the manual itself showing that it will only do 2 channel audio using the digital output on the card, which is the only way to get DDL audio.
ok but remember when you switch to digital you will need either a digital cox or fiber optic cable, i think the card comes with one. In regards to 5.1 in games, the people at bluegears are aware of this, just make surte your using the latest driver as the driver they shipped with the card has that problem, i use the latest driver and get full 5.1 DDS in Halflife 2, i haven't tried farcry yet, but maybe i will sometime soon. Also make sure your speaker setup are able to handle a didigtal signal. But if your using the drivers that came on the cd, upgrade them right now.
Have you had any luck with getting it to work in Call of Duty and it's expansion pack United Offensive?
