At the moment I have an ancient Samsung 500GB HDD which is getting really slow :/ and back when I built the PC, I ordered 8GB of Corsair DDR3 1600. However one of the sticks was faulty so I'm currently running on 4GB. So I was thinking I could buy another 8GB of RAM along with an SSD, and then return the old 8GB for a total of 16GB (excessive I know ) Any recommendations for what to buy for around £150?
Look around for a decent deal on a samsung 840 250 gig drive, been some good offers lately. Ram really doesn't matter tbh, cheapest PC6400 stuff you can find if you are on ddr3.
As mrbungle said, the ram doesn't make much difference just look for the cheapest. For ssd check this out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009LI7C9Y/ref=gb1h_tit_c-2_0167_A1H694I1CX36OZ?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1PPPQ7XF1AJ23HZTWTX9&pf_rd_i=350613011&pf_rd_p=359370167 It is on a lightning deal for the next 2 hours and will save you a ton.
That's a great price, but I unfortunately can't buy it just yet. Any other drives you guys would recommend?
Either samsung 840 (830 is discontinued), crucial m4 or ocz vertex 4. Unfortunately at full price they are all nearer the £130 - £140 mark which means you will need to stretch the budget for ram.
