Hi, I built a new system yesterday and I'm having problems with it cutting off... MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) i5-2500k Corsair XMS 3 PC3 - 12800 Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced Gainward GTX 570 Phantom Antec High Current Pro HCP-750 Asus Xonar DX Windows 7 x64 Ultimate When I was installing Windows updates the system cut off. Since then I have managed to install all the updates and it runs fine when Im on the net and listen to music. I installed Crysis 2 and when you start a new game and skip past the initial video, the computer will cut off when the actual game begins to load. It does it every time I try to play it. Also when I run a stress test in FurMark the computer cuts off as soon as it starts. Other times it runs the stress test with no problems. Also ran Prime95 stress test and memtest-86 both of which didn't have any problems. I turned off automatic restart but I dont get a blue screen, just a click then system losing power and then restarts its self. Anyone have any ideas, thanks.
sounds like a power issue.. what is it with cut offs, pixels gone wild and the 570 hmm interesting.. you sound like you've done all the basic tests- is that a multi rail psu? if it is, try distributing the power on the 12 volt rail- could be your overloading one of the rails
I did have the CPU, motherboard and graphics all on the direct cabling. I have changed the CPU and graphics to individual rails but it's still cutting off when I try to play Crysis 2. Im not too up on these things... The graphics card has an 8pin and 6pin connector. Should both of these be connect? It doesn't go on unless they are both connected and should each be connected to a seperate rail?
Read the PSU leaflet properly. The fixed cabling is all on seperate rails, so the CPU, Motherboard and Graphics were always on seperate rails.
