Just ordered one or those funky cordless keyboards / optical mice that Macroman reviewed. (Scan have got them reduced in their 'Today Only' section) Anybody know if it'd be safe to mod the lights to blue on this? (with it being battery powered) I've got 4 spare LED's from my abortive blue LCD backlight experiment - they'd look good against the black of the keyboard...
The lights on them are very dim. And red LEDS are used for a reason, have you ever heard of infa-bl00. red is a reactive colour, dont ask me whym just seems better, but if you want to sacrifice the quality of the mouse bl00 LEDs would be nice
Cypher - I meant the keyboard lights, not the mouse, but as Unloaded pointed out, it dosent have any! Blue would look good though. But not good enough to risk a nonfunctional mouse...
Just thought about the LED thing. Yeh thinking about it, it would be a HOOGH drain on battery life, as if the light was on (caps on) the keybaord would have to keep polling the controller to check if the PC still has caps turned on. Hope ya understand, i would image the LEDs would be in the transmitter. errrr much like this ... but i cant see anything that looks like an LED on that picture.
Hey guys Ive had the Cordless Desktop Optical since last September, got it from Dabs for £85, might be cheaper now. Its been a great solution to use and now i can browse Bit-Tech whilst lying in bed! The only bad points i found with it include: -- the battery power ( i think the keyboard has lasted 4 months, the mouse about 2 months, but i am quite a heavy user! ) -- the game support. Occassionally the mouse makes me look at the floor and spin around in Q3 and RTCW. Could be just me tho? -- The mouse light being on ALL the time! its cool sometimes, but i wish there was a switch to conserve battery power? A Mod perhaps? Other than those minor niggles, i would highly recommend the Desktop. I recently went to a matrs LAN and they were in awe! The mutimedia functions are excellent and the colour scheme goes well with my Matt Black Case and speakers. Unfortunately, there are no LEDs on the transmitter to my knowledge, but i aint opening it up to see if there are any! Hope urs comes soon, i had to wait 3 weeks for me, dont u hate it when they say its in stock, then it goes out! grrrrrrrrr! Anyway, hope i helped!
my main concern is something that macro said in his review of it about use of the mouse on detailed things like grapic editing and such... I can always give it to my son if it is too tedious... it just looks so cool
The Logitech Cordless Optical has NO lights besides the ones used for the optical eye in the mouse. The dimmed light pointed at in a post above is not a light, but a dark red button for resetting the connection. The transmitter/receiver thing doesn't have a light either. Over all the set is AWESOME! Except you can't use a cordless mouse for serious graphics - not even an optical one. For graphics/games I use a Razer Boomslang 2000 which I believe is the greatest mouse I've ever had. In some future I hope to get a Wacom Graphire2 which now has gotten quite attractive to look at...
Luckily I don't do serious graphics As long as the cross hairs are over the target, (or in the vacinity of the target depending on game and weapons system), it'll do!
Has anyone been able to compare the Logitech cordless optical mouse with the wireless Microsoft Intellimouse explorer? I really like the funky look and feel of the microsoft mouse, but I like the overall look of the Logitech desktop set...
the only way to display the caps lock, num lock info is in the taskbar. i'm glad you can disable it because it takes up a lot of room.
yea those pos batteries it came with last about a month...and sense then ive been replacing batteries about every 3 1/2 weeks, wuz gettin to be a pain so i went and got some rechargables man thought that wuz just me 2 mine does that every once in awhile....ive only noticed it in cs though
I'd like to know how far you can get from the reciever and it still work. I want a cordless setup for the living room when i have TV outs going. I can get the reciever to top of TV with cords, but i might be 10-12ft away from the TV. More info on this would be appreciated.
It arrived this morning! I will post my thoughts on it tonight (Although not before watching Buffy and Angel on SKY1 ) I await 'Oi - geekboy' type replies...
Well, I've installed it. First impressions are good, but I'm busy downloading the latest itouch s/w, as the programmable keys are acting very unprogramable at the mo. The mouse it pretty cool - it's a bit light - and its easy to overshoot your mark, as the pads on the bottom are mega slippery. Practice makes perfect, I guess. Will post further thoughts once the latest version of code has crawled it's way onto my HDD
I love that keyboard and mouse! i want one!!!!!!!! a lot of dough though. i am only a skool goer so i dont have £90 lying around. i thik i will get a job to pay for it (reaches for local paper and flicks to jobs section )
