The new season of Who kicks of on Saturday. Seems to be a bit of an assistant fest this year, what with Martha turning up again, Rose coming back (even though RTD said that she never would, as she's stuck on the parallel Earth) & Donna ("I'M NOT SHOUTING") from the christmas special "The runaway bride" as well.

Everyone looking forward to it? Or is Catherine Tate enough to put you off? Or is the thought of Rose & Martha enough to make you bovvered? ;)

    Here's the trailer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/

Martha completely covered in some sort of slime? Is it her in the bubbling tank? Very cylon-esqe... :)

I have to say I'm more of a fan of Torchwood than Dr. Who. Despite the plotlines and the general concept being ridiculous it's genuinely good entertainment and the characters are fantastic.

    I can't stand Catherine Tate :(.

I'll be watching on Saturday nonetheless :).

Won't watch it because of Tate. I simply can't stand her.

They should have got Kylie to be his assistant. She was good.

You have to be a really sad person to what Dr Who or Torchwood. ;)

    shat your face!

More of a fan of Dr. Who than Torchwood... Torchwood has got fairly homo recently and it's not what I need when eating my coco pops and watching it OD. (Not homophobic, not a fan of P.D of A's).

Are myself and I the only guys who found Catherine Tate hot in a wedding dress?

I really hate Tate, i'll watch it but i'm going to do my best not to enjoy it. Never got into this season of torchwood i think i'll wait for it to come on VM on demand. Wish they would leave Rose dead for a little while at least.

Actually, I was planning on giving this series a miss because of Catherine Tate, but looking at the trailers I might be pleasantly surprised. Looks like she won't be doing the fishwife impression each episode.

Since this is likely to be the last series for a couple of years, they may be getting the three "new" assistants back for a super-finale. Martha might also make an appearance as a UNIT person, like she did in Torchwood.

Oh, and my wife and I watch both programmes avidly too, so that makes 4 of us totally distraught types :p

Who will be around in 2009, but only as 3 or 4 extended duration specials (like the Christmas episodes). It'll be back in it's normal 13 episode run length in 2010, acording to RTD in SFX.

Like GreatOldOne I can't wait for this season to start :)

Bit disappointed that next year we aren't getting a series, but just 3 specials instead. I realise that Tennant may need a rest so that seems fair also I suppose. Just seems like a long wait till 2010.

Count me in as an avid Torchwood fan as well. Plus I've been growing more fond of Dr. Who as of late, enjoying episodes with Martha as companion. Torchwood is still fave in my book though. Too bad our episodes are delayed here in the US via BBC-America channel.

    Totally distraught +1

Behemoth - From what I've heard/read elsewhere, inc. direct from Who staffers, Tennant wanted 2009 off so he could do "The Scottish Play" with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

PS - The Sontaran (Short alien in armour for those who can't remember back to Tom Baker) is played by Chris Ryan (Mike from The Young Ones!)

If only tate was stuck in a parllel universe forever more (but only for real)!!!!
I seriously cant stand that women, martha was not too bad an assistent I felt, rose, im kinda undecided but she semi hot, so kinda tips the balence a bit, however had enough of her already from the previous series.

Likely ill maybe catch the episodes WITHOUT the tate, as lets face it, dont think id be missing much.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan - this is not Doctor Who, this is what the BBC passes for drama nowadays. So no, I'm not watching this shite.

And it's Doctor Who, not Dr. Who.

I remember the Sontarins, infact they go even further back from Tom Baker, try John Pertwee era when we first saw them. Now I am showing my age lol abyone care to guess how old I am ? Well I'll help you out when I first started watching Doctor Who as a kid it Colin Baker was The Doctor.

    Something like '82-'85.

Off the top of my head the first appearance of the Sontarans is in the episode where Sarah Jane makes an appearance. Can't remember the name but it'd be something like 'The Time Warrior'. Also first appearance of slit scan title graphics.
