i was going to set up a small wired house network, for the internet and file sharing... but my dad doesent want cables running everywhere, and his even better excuse is now he has a hp ipaq 3715nx or something? well anyway to do this would i just need an:

x1 ADSL Modem with Built-In 802.11g Wireless Router
x* 54g Wireless PCI Adaptor Card

im currently using virgin broadband and their gypsy "speed touch usb" adsl modem'y thing...

    would this be fine?

You'd need to get a router that does b AND g AT THE SAME TIME if your dad wants to use his ipaq with it. I know the Netgear dg834g can do this, and so can the Linksys WRT54G, but there are certainly many others. Having used both, I'd pay the extra for the netgear one over the linksys, but as I said, there are many others availiable to choose from.

    But otherwise yeah, that's fine.

I had the USB speedtouch thing beofre (my dad thought it was a mouse at first :hehe: ) I have the WAG54G linksys router/gateway, and it works great for both 54g and 54b networks. You have to be careful on which router you get beause I have seen one linkysys router/gateway that is designed for ntl customers only.

Yes, you only need items you said, you planning to share files with your dad over wireless?
