hey, look on the bright side... RIAA lawyer: y'ronour, i bring this case against the plaintiff because they were greviously sharing 'the cheeky girls - cheeky song', and have cost the industry more than 1 gazillion dollars! judge : do ya feel lucky, punk, do ya!
I think it is a bit un-necessary. If the judge actually believes there will be a threat he can have every single person walk through a metal detector. You may be thinking, "eh, a metal detector doesn't beep if there is less than X amount of metal", like at airports, zippers don't set off the detectors. But I know from speaking to a lawyer, they can set the detectors high enough to catch even a foil chewing gum wrapper. All the judge really has to worry about is someone attacking him with a plastic spork, and in that case, there will be an armed officer in the court room. On the other hand, if a crazy spork wielding court room attendee decides to go after the judge, I think the judge should have a right to defend himself. After all, the judge is not just "some punk walking down the street"- he is supposed to be a person with excellent knowledge of the law and a sense of good judgement. What I do think is kinda crazy is the idea of pistol wielding jurists. The jury is basically average, everyday citizens, probbably with little firearms knowledge (or they might require the jury to have a concealead carry permit, which requires firearms knowledge to obtain). The jury does not have to have good knowledge of the law, nor do they all have to have good judgement. But once again, one the flip side the lawyers do get to choose if they don't want a jury member on the jury, and, I could be wrong, I don't believe just anyone can be on a jury. L J
Judge: How do you plead? Criminal: Not guilty? Judge: I knew you'd say that. *boom, headshot* Honestly though, it sounds a tad pointless.
As humorous as those comments are, I simply don't see this as a big issue, simply because were talking about a judge with a gun, not just some random kid walking down the street with a pistol. L J
What possible reason could a judge have for carrying a gun in a courtroom? The people saying that it is needed for personal protection are living in fantasy land, if several armed court guards can't protect you what is a pistol hidden inaccessibly beneath your robes gonna do?
