I wonder how intact the building stayed as it fell. That'd be absolutely bizarre to start falling while all the indoor surroundings seemed to stay the same and the world outside passed you by.
Assuming it all fell at once in one mass, it would've stayed intact until it hit the ground. Realistically, some bits probably sheared off before others so the knock on effect of earth moving beneath would have led to the part of the building above to fall pulling the rest of the building in until the sinkhole reached its current size. Scary..
a few weeks ago there was a landslide about an hour away from where I live. A family was missing but their house was almost intact. When I say almost, I mean it was standing just fine but the basement was filled with mud. The whole family was watching the hockey game. Only the dog survived :-/
