I have a few questions about the FSB on the NF7-S 2.0: I am currently running the FSB @ 420 chipset voltage @ 1.7V rock stable. But it wont run stable @ 430 FSB, it boots into windows, but is not stable! -Do i need to voltmod the chipset to make it stable @ 430??? -Do i need to disable CPU interface??? -And do i need better cooling on the NB??? I am currently using the stock fan
Could be your RAM causing the bottleneck. Try upping the RAM voltage or relaxing the timings. And I would disable CPU interface anyway, I read an article that ran benchmarks with it on and off. There was almost no difference in speed....less than 0.1% if I remember correctly.
what vDIMM are you running? How stable is your 3.3v line? and what is it's value? how stable is your 12v line? and what is it's value? What are your memory timings? What cooling do you have on the chipset? (edit: i see you're using the stock cooler...) Have you changed the TIM underneath it? Vcore could be limiting you with fluctuations, are you cooling the mosfets if you're using above 1.95v vCore? Could be a number of things, those are a few that I've reeled off while making this post If you can answer all of those, i'd make it much easier for me to locate where your problem is
Yes, now it`s running stable @ 430! Had to use the divider, my memory is crap above 400! My XP2600 is now running @ 2478MHZ @ 1.875V @ 41C Load. The core voltage is shown in AbitEQ as 1.84, and 1.82 under load! WTF The 3.3V is 3.38V and the 12V is 11.9V. And yes, i`m using the stock NB fan with the stock goop underneath. I have a zalman passive NB cooler and AS3 lying around, would that be better???
Firstly make sure your vdimm is 2.9 i'm sure your ram has more to offer. don't be 2 put off by your cpu undervolting, i found that the 3dfire BIOS seriously undervolts compared to the latst standard nf7 abit BIOS which overvolted.
Lol! my RAM won`t let me enter windows @ 2.9Volt! (My RAM sucks major wiener) I think i will be buying new RAM soon, i`ll make sure it`s fast enough to run ATLEAST 430! As of now i only have 1 stick of RAM
