I was just about ready to order my mobo when I saw that they have two options; nForce3 250 cheaper with fewer accessories or nForce3 150 more expensive with lots of features so it there any gain i will get out of getting the 250? this is what will be going in it Athlon 64 3400+ 1GB 400MHz DDR
does it matter more to you to have the more features aka: will you be able to use or need the extra features of the 150 or does the 250 have all the things you need?
The 150 is crappier compared to the newer 250 and 250GB models. If you want a socket 754 board check out the DFI Lanparty series.
thanks for all the quick replys The added features that come with the 150 board are nice but I guess not really necessary (just extra USB and SATA). But I really wanted some technical information about the two's differences, I have tried searching for it but have come up empty.
iirc they implemented a PCI/AGP lock on the 250(gb) and fixed other various bugs. Higher performance and far more overclockable then the 150. But i guess it depends if you want the performance/overclockability, or the features. your call, but imo i'd just go for a socket 939 setup which uses the NF3 Ultra chipset (basically the 250Gb suped up to support socket 939 ). btw: http://www.anandtech.com/showimage....ws/chipsets/nvidia/nforce3_250gb/250chart.jpg
the main difference is that the 150 chipset used a 600MHz hypertransport, and the 250 uses 800Mhz. Basically the 250 is newer and, er, well, better. There's an old article here which explains some of the differences better than I can. And I can personally vouch that the DFI LanpartyUT 250Gb is nice
hay thanks for all the help, I went ahead and got a 250 mobo, I think it will make me happy for years to come.
