Im gonna be getting a xp2400 with the money i get for m 18th birthday and im looking for something nice and quiet to sit on top of it. My current cooler is about 34-35dB so anything quieter would be nice :) Its to fit my MSI KT4 Ultra so no alphas :( plus the alpha is well outa my price range.

I looked at the http://www.theoverclockingstore.co....d20df315aa6115f0d93ff3bf2489c5e&codeid=812484 and saw it looked cool but in my current case i dunno if it would fit because the cpu socket is at the very top of the board and my psu is directley above it with only about 20mm between that and my current 60mm cooler.

The price range of about £20 maybe a bit more would be nice any suggestions ?

I have a XP2400+ as well, and curiously enough, the stock heatsink performs quite well for me. The key is to replace the junk fan that comes with it (Got a sunon on mine).

I've yet to see the temps top 40C even during stressfull apps.
    :p

Hmm...that's interesting; what was the temp when using the Stock AMD fan? I've got a XP 2100+ (using Stock HSF) and my temps at the moment are:

    CPU Surface: 50.5C
    Core: 65C!!

I'm gonna get a new HSF, but if a new fan will do the job, i'll save myself some money

    Ak.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I ran it with the Sunon fan from the start.

A 2100+ Pal core is hotter than a 2100+ TB core, If what I have heard is correct.

    Thermaltake Volcano 7+

Thermaltake's site say it is rated to 2600+, don't know how well it would perform, got an Alpha 8045 on my 2400+.
