It looks like it turns the ipod into a pedometer type thing I guess?
Interesting concept thats for sure. I personally wouldn't have much use for something like this, but I could imagine it being a bit of a boon for those that run alot or those that go down the gym on treadmills :)

All I can think off: What's next?

But it does seem like a fun little gadget, your nano telling you that you have reached your 5 mile goal or whatever. Too bad it only works with the Nano (probably because they don't have a hard drive but do have a dock connector), and that you 'need' Nike shoes.

It's fun though to see them develop all little extra's for your iPod experience.

Meh, it'll work with any shoe with a bit of duct tape. Still, agreed - cool concept. I just got back from a 10-mile bikeride (at 5:30am...) and a bike-compatible equivalent would be nice for me (trip computer-esque functions). It won't happen though, as iPod+bike is a really bad idea in heavy traffic areas (not ruralville at sunrise). There's a couple third-party products out there, I just never seem to remember to order one.

I've just gone and bought one and I can confirm they'll work with any shoe as long as you can hold it down tight. I have it on my Adidas 1.

I'm not 100% sure on the accuracy though, i'll have to do my usual route tomorrow to double check but things are looking good.

Although i'm really tempted by the new Nike Moire trainers though, they look nice, but then I am a consumer whore :D

Doesn't half look weird on your shoe J, try turning it so it looks right to other people?

yeah, but it's prone to popping out when twisted the other way.

Anyway, i'll be running past people so quick they won't be able to see :p

Am I the only one who think that this is a pointless addon and a cash in for Nike and Apple. sort of like the HP Apple, but fitness oritentated.... And the little "shoe" addon, that looks pretty loose and its going to get lost and i doubt that Nike will be nice enough to sell replacements?

well.. it does everything I wanted when running.. I already use my ipod and I already run.. but I wished there was an in-expensive and easy way to track my progress, times and distances.

For £19 I have something which is small and un-obtrusive and can log my speed, times and distances easily.

What i really would've liked is a sensor that is universal to any shoe (but being nike branded obviously means Nike shoes only) and a heart monitor (but that would pushed the costs way up and would mean for a larger unit).

So all in all, if you already run and already listen to an ipod when running, it's not a bad way to track your training with.

Does it make you feel like you're living in a MMORPG?

That'd sell it for me, a big "ching" noise every time you pass a mile :D

I love the Idea...I'm going to get me those Air Zoome Moire shoes...then all I'll need is an Ipod nano :worried: But hey I wanted one anyway because my old 4th gen. Ipod is getting on my nerves when carrying it in my pocket 'cause it is huge...
(yea I got "consumer whore written on my forehead)

Simple response to your question: Are you an avid runner? If you are, you will instantly see the point of this. If you aren't, you might wonder why anyone would bother. Nike and Apple made this for the "if you are" crowd, not the "if you aren't" folks.

I'd be interested to see what your acuracy tests come up with... MrsGOO is wanting to use the Nike+ gear, but doesn't want to ditch her current running shoes as she's only just got them and broken them in.

How secure is the sensor when tucked under the laces like that? I was planning (in true Blue Peter style ;)) to make a fabric pocket to hold the sensor that could be laced into the shoe.

Probably have to be very solid as it would be in the sole, so bouncing about in a fabric thing, unless under the laces, not over would be the way to go.

Too be fair I was worried about slippage so much that I kept checking on it during the run and messing with it. Whilst mine never popped out, I couldn't say if it would or would not as I didn't give it any chances to lose itself!

I say the Blue Peter style pouch is an excellent idea. Do I get a Blue Peter badge if I make one too? :)
