"A man brandishing a samurai sword forced his way through the drive-thru window to rob a McDonald's restaurant in Winnipeg on Sunday. The thief, who also wielded a pipe, climbed through the window at about 5:30 a.m. He held the sword to the throat of the restaurant's 17-year-old manager, forcing him to open a back door to an accomplice. The robbers bound three employees with duct tape and forced the manager to give them cash. They tied him up and fled the restaurant... Police said the suspects wore balaclavas, sunglasses and dark clothing." More and such Damn them B movies warping our childrens minds! I knew it would come to this... But did you believe me?! maybe
(at least in the US) If teenagers come in with decent grades, and show good respect, they are pretty much immediately made managers. I didn't know McDonald's was open that late, though... Simple solution: Give the drive-through attendants tasers
24hr Maccas aren't so uncommon. Even so, 17 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to young to be in charge of a restaurant like that - especially on a graveyard shift. That's just asking for trouble. I can handle 17 year olds as assistant managers (which this one probably was) but they should have an older manager there supervising.
yeah, the way McDonalds works if you'd notice is that kids only work there for maybe 6-10 weeks and then leave once they realise that it sucks, so you hang in there for maybe 15 weeks and all of a sudden, your their longest serving employee......*bang* promotion, payrise, less work & 3 more stars on your badge Edit : um, and a graveyard shift by the looks of it!
what would the 17 year old manger say to the owner... ' ...errm some guy in a ninja outfit just turned up at the drive through with his samuri sword and throwing stars, he robbed us and took everything from our safe' owners reply 'is this ment to me some kinda of stupid joke '
yea rather than climbed through the window he should have jumped through into a ninja style roll but i think hes a fake
no, a real ninja would have waiting until the shadows they cast were a particular hue, then hide in the peoples shadows while he robbed them!
I think the manager was in on it. Seriously. Have you seen the size of the drive-thru windows? Even Rich and I would have a problem trying to climb through... MUCH LESS climb through fast enough to pose a serious threat. If *I* were the manager, I'd grab one of those frier baskets and beat the crap out of the guy before he could get half-way in the window. It just sounds too much like whoever was working the window (the manager from the sounds of it) *let* the guy in. Though I suppose it COULD be a case of "following orders" since most places like that say "If someone is threatening you, just give them the money." But if that's the case, then I think the kid deserves a sentancing for being criminally stupid. Protect the assets. Yes employees are more important, but the guy can't throw the sword through the drive-thru window... so just keep him locked out like the filth he is!
not so sure, he works at macdonals!! very disposable staff there (as anyone could work there!). I say throw staff at him until he goes away!
A little advice: If you are working somewhere and you get robbed, you let them have whatever the hell they want. I used to work at a video store and my manager had the "protect the assets" attitude. He's dead now. If this indeed was a legitimate crime (which i doubt) then the kid did the right thing. Your McJob is not worth dying for...
Precisely, it's not the kid's money. McDonalds won't even miss what's missing. I used to work for a large retail corporation, and frankly there was no way I was going to put myself in danger to protect some multinational's profits... Sam
im sorry but what does it matter how old the manager was, he did just what he was supose to. They are not to put up a fight, or else the headlines might read "Ninjas decapate 17 yr old manager of mc donalds"
Not if he took a pic on his camera-phone I've gotta say... if you're dumb enough to rob a mcdonalds, at least go for somewhere that has money. I doubt they've had too many customers by 5:30am unless it's a 24hr place and even still they wouldn't have much more than enough to cover making change. I totally agree with you guys... what's more important to you: not dying in a freak robbery or not getting fired from a mcdonalds? Not that I'd be caught dead working there but hypothetically I'd still let them take whatever.
