that is the shizz, looks like a snes pad with analogue sticks the snes pad is one of the best imho only bettered by the ps1/2 controller
As I understand it, you still have the wii remote, and the nunchuck controller, this is yet another variation (could you really imagine using those things for the various multi-platform titles?). Althought hese controllers seem quite cool, I really don't want to have to scrape up the cash for 12 differnet controllers, 4 is bad enough, but 4 of each? sheesh talk about money grabbing.
Yeah i dont quite understand why they came up with this? i like the remote controller with the analog attachment for the other hand but this completly defeats the point. Also i think this looks wayyyyyyyy better then the poor excuse of sony's design team using EXACTLY the same controller.
Errr...Are people forgetting about the NES, N64, Gamecube etc back catalogue? You cannot expect Nintendo to make each game compatible with the Remote, it's not possible. Nintendo is pushing the 'virtual console' agenda just as much as it's pushing new Wii games, therefore it needs a well-made, traditional controller. Besides, no matter how much fun the Remote looks, Nintendo probably understands that sometimes you'll just want to chill out and not have to worry about getting out of breath simply because you want a quick game.
Everyone LOVES sony's design on the PS1/PS2/PS3 controller. thast why they keep using it. it's familiar, well laid out, and the PERFECT size for almsot anyone.
Not everyone loves it's design, bust as pretty much everyone/anyone has come into contact with a PS1/2 they would have come into contact with such a item. but the best controller in my mind was the N64's. Didnt the Rev have two Gamecube controller ports? why not use the existing Gamecube controllers?
It did and it does- but don't forget, the Wii will support N64, Gamecube, SNES and Megadrive games, so the Gamecube ports are simply there to satisfy their previous customers I'd have to agree that the N64 did have an amazing controller, possibly the best. The PS3 controller just feels like RSI in a piece of plastic to me- very good design but not so for long-term use. The Xbox 360 controller seems to be a pretty good solution, and a great all-rounder. <A88>
Quoted for Truth! I totall agree though this controller above looks to actually be more uncomfortable than a PS controller, just look at where those analog sticks are, its going to be a right pain to hold and use those sticks.
That's what I thought at first and then -H- reminded me that it's more then likely aimed at the back catalogue of games available with the majority of them using the d-pad for movement.
hmm, the snes pad looked nasty to use but that was a ace pad to play with, the one above looks great too and i disagree about the sticks being in a bad place, i think its going to e very comfortable to use as the hands will be at the sides of the pad instead of almost underneath it and causing people with huge hands pain and discomfort. dont forget that the pad that is regarded so highly by alot of people (sony's ps* pad) was co-invented with nintendo and look how well that has done. and i agree with the other comments about the remote style controller, these 2 controllers have different uses, i wouldnt want to be playing SF2 with that remote thing, it just wouldnt do the retro game justice
looks kewl wonder if it will plug into the remote to make it wireless although this would end up with you having a lap full of cables with the amount of pads there putting out. i really want to like the wii just if you think about it aint that next gen i mean were all going on about how it looks like a snes pad and that it plays snes and n64 games when we should be talking about the next-gen bits. makes me feel like i will be buying a all in one emulator rather than a new console

Anyone else get the feeling that Nintendo are throwing as much stuff at the wall as they can and seeing what sticks? They really ought to settle on a way of controlling the majority of all games, and go with it rather than (as it seems) announcing a new controller configuration on a weekly basis. They may underestimate how confusing this can be for the casual gamer, interested in the Wii. p.s. That pad looks wired. Why?
That's the wired version for people who want a more traditional controller. Seems weird to have the cord coming off the bottom of the controller though...
