so the voltage regulator is used if it wasn't cut +12V would go directly into the LCD = Very Bad News... the PCB can support +5V and +12V models, so it's just easy for us to do it that way.
oh right cool just wanted to know just thought it was a feature been disabled but i was wrong thanks alot m8 Later AW3K
i know this has been posted sumwhere else, but i cant find it... can somebody suggest a circuit for the gpo's to use to switch on a cold cathode... from my days of electronics .. it shud be sum sort of transistor setup.... thanx
PLEASE NOTE... Some of the new NK204-Bit-Tech displays will have the keypad header on it. It has it but we do NOT support it. If you have a NK204-Bit-Tech and are having issues with the keypad, all we will say is, the NK204-Bit-Tech has no keypad. But you will still find support here
henry whats one of these come to total for a us person with regular shipping & taxes etc? nm that... figured out i could find that and not purchase.. *needs a credit card*
Re: look what came today!! Nice M8 has it got the keypad header on? and how much was the import just out of intrest? Have Fun like i am. Trying to mount my 2nd one in my lian-li - oh what fun Later AW3K
Yup, it has the keypad header The import cost: £22.32. I now have it plugged in, and the cursor is flashing at me... so now to load up LCDC and make it show something a little more interesting
OK Folks... we have new shipping option for the UK and Western Europe... DHL $14.88 for 2-3 day service... the biggest thing is they promise so service charges... so you will pay the import tax of 12GPB and nothing else... So, um, some one order one so we can test it
Only if you selected DHL in the shipping section but I'll talk to sales and see.. if it hasn't been shipped we might send it with DHL.
if it hasnt been shipped i hear u say !!! im expecting it today, in about 4 hours !!! 8am gmt hehe, nah... take ure time, i know its worth the wait. plus me is still working on the housing for it..... but thats a whole different article *HINT* *HINT* /me wants front page of bit-tech like AW3K
Just got my NK204-V. £17 handling & import (£7 import and £10 for DHL to handle the import fee, I hate it when the company charges more than the cost of the fee to "handle" it, then again it is the first time DHL have charged me an import fee and considering I've got more than £1500 worth of good into the UK in the past it was bound to happen sooner or later) One quick question for Henry: It says in the manual that the GPOs output the input voltage of the unit (specifying 5Volts as the manual is written for not the wide voltage option). Does that mean that the wide voltage outputs 12V or 5V? [edit: quick note: my LCD came with the keypad interface pins already connected, as has been said some people will get the NK204-V with it. Guess I'm a lucky one]
Thanks. The GPOs are perfect for some blue LEDs I've got lying around. I'm guessing that with only 20mA, unlike the 5V from the molex, you don't need a resistor for a LED that uses 5V (it is a split vote but many forum goers swear that you need a bit of resistance with each LED you run off the 5V molex due to the large power supply and the blue LEDs I have seem fine with a 58R resistor in the circuit so I run them like that, better safe than sorry.) BTW, where in Oxford do you live CheeseMan? I used to school down there and I know the area quite well.
I've never put a resistor in a 5V series LED circuit with a 5V led... and there's no reason to here (see my article on the main site). I live in Somerville College at the start of Woodstock Road - you should come to the next Oxford bit-tech meet, there's quite a few of us around here Cheers, Rob.
