If your garden is like mine, and the grass is turning steadily yellow, then you will not be pleased with the following forecast from the BBC: "Monday 28 June 2010 to Sunday 4 July 2010 A hot start still with a southern bias A hot start to the week will continue in England, Wales and often Scotland and Northern Ireland. Atlantic fronts are still likely to attempt entry into the northwest of the UK but will lose most of their rain before they reach land. Nevertheless sometimes cloudy and breezy weather will affect the northwest. Monday 5 July 2010 to Sunday 18 July 2010 Even more of the same... Except that this time the Atlantic fronts are held even further at bay: Scotland and Northern Ireland should enjoy more of the sunny and warmer weather. Some showers are still possible which may be thundery. Temperatures, of course, look likely to remain above normal."
well its 15 (57F) degrees C here in Leeds and its 8.15 in the morning! and will go up to about 22 today (71ish F) hot enough for me!
Great weather for exams In all seriousness, its been really lovely in Berkshire over the last few days, hot, but without being ridiculously overpowering, and not too humid, but practically cloudless.. Lets hope it continues..
A chilly 25ºC in the office this morning compared to the average 30ºC between 3pm and 2am on my floor at home.
Watering your grass while the sun is out will burn your grass. Not to mention its a complete waste of water as a lot of resevoirs are starting to run out of water. If it continues for another week there will be a load of hose pipe bans in the north of England, Southe-East England and the Western Isles.
I water my grass every couple of days in summer and it is a lovely shade of green. A lot better than the yellow it would have been without the water. Also I don't think it is a waste of water, we (Glasgow residents) are in no immediate danger of running out of water anytime soon.
Heat wave?! You have to be kidding me. This is June weather. If it gets to 30 deg for more than a day let me know...
Well it's been 30C here for the last two weeks, and it's only gonna get hotter next month and August I'm told. Plus I'm sitting next to the butt end of a 5870 and GTX 470, which means I've got one arm drenched in sweat
Aye no chance of Loch Katrine running out, I use a ridiculous amount of water washing my car LOL. I was talking more of other areas which I had stated, we'll no doubt send some of our water to these areas if they get really low. I water my grass too, but normally once it is in the shade. Have had my grass burn and go brown from watering it in direct sunlight before.
Average of 28C in London over the next few days. I don't mind the heat but it's the lack of airflow that makes me uncomfortable. Must buy myself a fan!
What are you on about...? We've had 3 washout summers on the trot... so far I've had around 4 weeks total sunshine this spring/summer - and it has been bliss. Even though it means that it's 28C in my office (with me wearing a wool suit)... There could be numerous reason for this...
