hey all, trying to fix a friend laptop and having some issues . OS: vista-32 home premium I think it has something to do with the DHCP as this is something like - 196.254.59.40 etc. i have limited access on the network it says for both IPv4 and IPv6. i have tried to force a static IP but only get local access then. i googled the issue and seems to be common but no real solution exists. i also cant ping 127.0.0.1. i have uninstalled network drivers and updated to latest ones it makes no difference. problem exists on both wireless and wired. therefore i dont think it is the drivers that is the issue. anyone any ideas ???
Its a long shot, but try this: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml I had a similar problem and this solution worked, mine was a registry problem. Although its unlikely to work, you never know - it's worth a shot.
What model and brand laptop? My dell 1720 fudge's out when I use the latest drivers from Windows update for my wireless N intel adapter. (yes I know fudge isn't very technical). I am currently having to stick to a "rolled back" driver atm due to the updated driver causing my internet connections to not connect on wired or wireless. Also, in elevated cmd prompt, use ipconfig /flushdns And just due to my experience with a large variety of virus laden customer computers, run a good virus scanner.
