It really depends on what you are after or what you expecting. There are a lot of questlines and bits and pieces to follow to give you the lore of the universe and these will also unlock things like the base building items or other crafting blueprints, but by far and away the main focus of the game is still exploration and collecting. The collecting part is what i enjoy, I like trying to get all the appearance items, all the special bits and pieces from the vendors in the anomaly. I like to try and complete scans of creatures on planets or find the "best" freighter and frigate squadron. I do take long breaks from the game once I have done everything that came out in the latest patch, or if I have done the latest expedition, but I keep it installed and hop back on now and again for a bit of a poke around to see what's new or to pick up a new upgrade for my kit. I have had it since pre order and I still love it, it is my sort of pace as in I can hop on, do my own thing for an hour or so and then log off and go make dinner.
There are various plot threads that go through it such as the story from the guys in the Anomaly space station and the lost traveller that you help out and interact with and that does have a pretty good story. Then there are others like the corrupt sentinels and their story, but there isn't any overarching story or an "end" to it. I have done everything that is structured as a story in the game, and I do hop on to get any new additions done as well.
New expedition is up - Adrift: I shall probably wait until I have a bit of free time over the weekend for this one. Looks interesting from what I have seen on the trailer.
Worlds 1 update is live and the next expedition should be starting up either tomorrow or Thursday. Looks to be all sorted of bug related. I have had a quick look at the new bits and pieces and there are some nice graphical additions, the water changes are gorgeous.
The update has finally made it to Xbox and Switch! Yay! The bug armour (and trophy heads) look insanely cool. I hate killing critters though
Finally got the humungous update downloaded overnight. This Expedition ends on September 2nd 14:00 BST. I need to actually do this one and not leave it until the last 3hrs to try and do the whole thing! I was so close to completing the last one, but I just procrastinated on it!
I started yesterday as soon as I saw it had hit the Switch. In the first hour I found a new ship and got given a new multi-tool at one of those observation stations, but I've got no resources to repair either. While the Switch still has a lot of asset pop-in, it seems to be much better than before, just taking about half a second instead of 2 to 5.
I think I shall probably take a crack at it over the weekend. I have had a bit of a play around with the main update and it all seems pretty good so far, although each update, especially the big graphical ones do make my PC chug that little bit more... My main save has such a huge collection of stuff on it now as I have all the Twitch drops, done all the expeditions up to this one, gone through all the new and old story content, I just need to start working my way through the guild bits and pieces to pick up the additional titles although i probably won't use them, I normally just run around with the "Iteration one" title.
