    Hi,
    On my new rig:
Gigabyte GA-8INXP granite bay board / p4 2.4 / radeon 7500 i have a problem whereby it doesnt always boot up with something on the display.

I hit the power button, machine comes on and whirs cd drives etc, but monitor stays off. I have to reboot / power on and off a few times to fix this.

Any idea what the problem is?

Are there any beeps or what not? After you power it on and off a few times does it work? What kind/power PSU do you have?

My dad has a 7500 in his machine and a short while after we built it he started having a similar problem. Turned out the PSU wasn't powerful enough or else the voltages weren't stable enough to power his machine. He was running the 7500 on an AMD 1700+ system. Swapped his generic PSU for a 300 watt enermax and problem solved.

same thing happens to me but only happens to me when the psu has been completly disconnected from the mains. Then it takes about 4-10 tries to get it started. After it works the first time it keep working and starts first time untill it is unplugged. Really annoying problem isnt it? :wallbash:

check to make sure that the video card is seated correctly... i have an old asus board that does the same thing if the card is slightly seated wrong (if i don't screw it in as tight as possible and the weight of the card mvoes it downward, it'll do that) annoying as hell

thing is mines a gigabyte mobo and i have been through it many times. I think its somin to do with capacitors being discharged when the power is unplugged and then they have to be charged again

I dont think it is the PSU.
Its an enermax 350w psu powering 2x hd, 2x optical drive, and p4. 2.53 not clocked.

Mine is a gigabyte mobo - you would have thought they got it sorted!?

Il check video card - thats a possibility.

The same thing happens to me, only it's an Abit KT7e (not a good motherboard for stability) with a Geforce2 GTS. I don't think it's my PSU either because that's an Enermax 350W.

What I've found that works is if you press the button on the front to turn it off, hit the switch on the power supply (if you have one), unplug it from the wall, wait 5-10 seconds, then plug it back in.

Annoying as hell. Time for a new mobo/graphics card.
