Anyone know of any keyboards with either no numpad, or the numpad on the left side?

I need something which is decent for gaming, but mainly fits within these numpad restraints. I've steadily been doing more and more CAD work lately and have gotten quite frustrated with traditional keyboards. At present, if I'm in AutoCAD and drawing a line for example, I'll type "L" with my left hand, right click to enter, left click to specify the first point, move my right hand to the numpad to enter the length, if I want feet I'll hit ' with my left hand (or move the hand to the mouse and my side button bound to '), then move my right hand back to the mouse to aim where I want the line and right click to confirm. Notice the problem: my right hand is leaving my mouse. With a numpad on the left I can keep all keyboard operation to the left hand.

I've seen the Sidewinder X6 and it seems... decent. But I'd like to know if anyone's seen anything else out there that has eluded me. It's that or get a Razer Naga and just use that as a numpad.

I used to have the X6. Wish I never sold it tbh. Wholeheartedly recommend the X6.

Might I ask, why'd you initially sell it? Anything to do with the keyboard that bothered you at the time that you later realized didn't matter?

    How was the build quality?

Is red the only backlight color option? Not to sound fickle, but my PC has a pretty blue glow, as does my mouse, and I don't really care for red (or amber).

Can I use it without the numpad at all for when I'm gaming?

One of my mates has one and it's good. You can use the main section without the number pad attacted, as we found out when we spammed the Calculator button so he simple took off the number pad and lobbed ot behind the sofa :D This also answers its qulity, as it survived without a scratch.

    That's wasted space!

Nah, that would work. It's just a last resort since it's really a gaming issue and not a working issue. Having to bring one's right hand alllllll the way over the arrows and insert/delete/etc cluster and numpad to type is a pretty long drag, it's just faster to switch between typing and mousing (aka aiming) without a numpad on the right. :thumb:

Well then! If it can handle being tossed around without a scratch I think you've got me sold because that poor removable numpad is going to be getting some abuse from my and my lazy ways. Thanks for the hands on report! :D
