    Hi everyone!
I recently bought a new computer and when I got everything together and switched on the power I got no image. The fans are working fine, and the led on the motherboard that indicates that the motherboard is powered up is on. I've tried changing graphics cards, switching processors, changing slots on the ram but nothing seems to help. And i get no beeping what so ever.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    The rig:
    Asus - Socket 775 - ATX nVidia Dual X16 SLI (P5N32-E SLI PLUS) - 2xPCI-E / DDR2 / Gblan
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz / 1066MHz / 2x4MB
    Corsair XMS2 Xtreme 2048MB DDR2 PC2-6400 (Kit 2x1024MB)
Cooltek PowerSupply (PSU) 600W ATX 2.2

have you tired putting the card into the other PCI-E slot? (you should be using the top one, but try the other one as well).

Are you getting any post beeps ?

Confirm using only 2 sticks of ram and 1 gfx card?

EDIT: im fairly sure its your ram, these boards are really fussy with ram, make sure to check the QVL list when using ram for this board.

The ram you mentioned does not appear to be on the QVL list the only 6400C4 Dominator series running @ 800mhz, not the extreme series.

The 2 sticks of ram you do have, make sure they are inserted into the two blue ram slots. The board dont like using the first blue and white with 2 sticks, use either blue or white slots, not both unless using 4 sticks.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been busy with other things. But thanks to all of you for your quick response.

Delphium: No beeps at all, not even without having ANY ram inserted. And yes, only 2 sticks of ram and 1 gfx card. Haven't tried changing the RAM for another pair of sticks though.

That was what bothered me the most, that even without any ram it didn't beep.

Get your hands on a good name brand PSU and try that. It looks like the problem to me.

So given that the fans are working and the stand-by led on the motherboard are working are no guarantee that the PSU is alright?

I still suspect that it is the RAM you are using which is not supported by the motherboard, as I said earlyer, these boards are VERY, VERY fussy about which ram you use, the RAM your using does not appear to be on the QVL list for RAM supported by the motherboard.

If you can try use some ram that IS listed on the QVL list for that motherboard and try again, this is a darn sight easyer than having to swap out a PSU.

I have 2 PC's with this board, and initially had lot of trouble booting them due to RAM being used not listed on the QVL list, the moment I change to RAM that is on the QVL, low and behold, it all worked fine.

I have a 650W rated PSU powering my PC, same motherobard, same cpu, 4gb of ram, 6sata-ii hard disks, a 8800gtx, plus fans and watercooling, this PSU for me works fine, so unless you have large number of hard drives and fans and such, the 600W PSU *should* be suffcient.

Again you can view the QVL list here.

Ok. But still, shouldn't it still show the post screen and then stop there to give me some kind of error message if I remove the RAM altogether?

Because right now, even that won't make a difference. And I tried the same thing with another cpu and tried there too without RAM. But no post screen there either. I suspect that the motherboard is dead, or similar.

No, you wont get any error message on the screen at all.
If your not getting any post beeps at all, even with no ram inserted, which you should hear a long continuous beep, which indicates that no ram is inserted.
What it sounds like may of happened is that the boards ram controller is now dead due to using the wrong ram, this exact same issue happened to my mates motherboard, and if you goggle about, many others too. :(

I cant stress enough how fragile these boards are with ram, the box that the board arrives in too also has a large red sticker stuck on the front of the box that states to make sure to use ram thats listed on the QVL list. :geek:
