Dude no one in Europe buys US cars either, here they are over priced and not terribly well adapted to life here, mostly because they get several gallons to the mile (excuse the broad generalisation). Before any one says it GM and Ford are both US firms but lets face it the cars they make in europe are not the same as the ones for the local market.

as far as electronics go lets face that, they are all made in china!

With risk of sounding like a broken record here, I think the problem most people have with the PS3 is that Sony released it late in Europe and then released it with less functionality (sure, it was only really the lack of 100% backwards compatibility like Sony promised when it started talking about PS3) at the higher price. Because Sony has gone down that route, and to get rid of the so-called "custom" component from the 60GB US PS3, it has had to release one with higher specs (albeit only slightly) to give the US customers something to replace the 100% backwards compatibility on the original PS3s.

Paying more for the same is a given in this country, but paying more for what is ultimately less is not cool IMO. Why didn't the Europeans get something "more" to replace the lack of backwards compatibility on our version of the console when it was released? None of the games in the bundle selections interest me, so in essence I'm still paying the same price for the same piece of hardware. Given that every PS3 will come with the games, the resale value of them will be practically zero.

The X360 has the same functionality (in terms of hardware, backwards compatibility, etc), regardless of where in the world you purchase it and that is certainly what has upset me the most about the way Sony has handled us Europeans. I have a PSTwo and I had a 1st Gen PS2 and an original PlayStation - I'd really like a PS3 as I believe it's a fantastic piece of hardware, but I just cannot see myself buying one any time soon because of the way it feels like us Europeans are somehow second class citizens in Sony's eyes. :(

Why would you want one? Because they're tremendous fun, I'm not 5, in fact I play on a housemate's with 7 other uni undergrads, so it's hardly a kiddies' console tbh. :p

I didn't think the Wii would be good for me either, but there are some cool games out for it, and the innovation and attitude towards the whole thing is fresh and interesting. Don't knock it until you've properly tried it with a couple of mates.

So what your crying about is being the first to recieve the reduced B/C console at what you believe to be a higher price?

The markup for these machines is constant across the board, convert US dollar price to UK dollar price add 40 odd % (or 50% in Nintendos case) and put it on UK shelves, thats due to economic factors of operating in this country, Sony don't control that. Sony are making a loss with each console and as part of the cost reduction have replaced Hardware B/C with software, they still make a loss with out it so theres no passing savings on, we were the first to receive the EE less console sure, but the new 'higher spec' as you put it US machine no longer has it and all they get is 1 game and an additional controller, the price is still $599 ultimately none of them will have the EE, our bundle is 60Gb and 2 games plus additional controller on the 18th, so much the same really for that price point ($599/£425) and extra 20Gb or an extra game, at least you could sell the additional game if you didn't like it, you're not ripping 20Gb out.

The US won't have the 499 60Gb for long so if you're in the US and even considering a PS3 i'd suggest you pick one up ASAP if you want 100% BC.

Played it plenty that why I know that at the moment its not for me, judging by annoucements at E3 its not going to be, WiiFit, great, super smash brawl :eyebrow: Super mario galaxies might get my interest but thats it, nintendo aren't focusing on many games with any depth, its all short hit stuff for the 'casual' gamer or people with the attention span of a 5yr old and not there old core market. Can't just buy it for Zelda, I've bought too many machines for one title.

I agree with Sandys, I bought the Wii because I'd always had a soft spot in my heart for Nintendo and Zelda, I liked Zelda, but there isn't enough content coming out to justify me having it.
