AN Egyptian cleric's controversial fatwa claiming that nudity during sexual intercourse invalidates a marriage has uncovered a rift among Islamic scholars. According to the religious edict issued by Rashad Hassan Khalil, a former dean of Al-Azhar University's faculty of Sharia (or Islamic law), "being completely naked during the act of coitus annuls the marriage". The religious decree sparked a hot debate on the private satellite network Dream's popular religious talk show and on the front page of Al-Masri Al-Yom, Egypt's leading independent daily newspaper. Well, with Abdullah Megawar's arguement included, you could look at your spouse naked, but no peaking down below Kind of one of those funny, but yet sad in a lot of ways type things. I'm all for diversity, but isn't this a bit silly? Oh noes! The poor innocent eye's!
Its easy, she has a skirt, and you have a fly... But how can you really have fun, is not the human body supposted 2 be shown off to all us guys so we can drool?
If I remember the Bible right, when Adam & Eve ate the apple, they realised each other were naked and were ashamed. Quick dash for the fig-leaves. Now there was nobody else around to peek at their privates, and they must have been cohabiting to have Cain & Abel, so there's the same concept of nudity=wrong, even if you're an item, in the Christian religion. Just modern Christians are all back-sliders. Nice to see the old ways kept up.
Ahh the ability of the Koran to be interpretated in any way you feel like it. Granted its just the same with the bible and all religions as its all very VAGUE. Dawin for the win personally and Sod this whole religious stuff EDIT:: when did For The Win (in its abreviated form) get onto the sware filter?
The Qu'ran is just mohammad's interpretation of the bible... [sarcasm]I like how we have a whole religion based off of one man's "what he thought god meant".[/sarcasm]
some people seem to be missing the fact that the Qu'ran was revealed to the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) in a series of revelations by the angel Gabriel. and perhaps some of the teachings may in this day and age seem rather backward or against peoples freedoms and whatnot, but at the end of the day, its a religion. and me being muslim myself, i can vouch that most if not all of the teachings are very very practical and for the benefit of society. where things begin to go wrong, is when culture and tradition interferes with religion. as far as i understand, once you are man and wife, you are free to do as you wish together, even if that means being completely naked during intercourse. that 'idiot' Rashad Hassan Khalil, is nothing more than just that. NOTHING should be prohibited unless it is stated in the Qu'ran, and you will get people left right and centre telling you this, this and this is wrong. but unless they can back it up, its bullshyte. /end of rant but it does seem rather silly though!
Is the hajib or burkha ordered in the Qu'ran? Because, to be honest, those seem like neither practical nor socialy beneficial things to me.
Who cares if you are clothed? All you need is two holes ripped in the appropriate places and wala..sex and your still clothed!
the hajib or burkha is NOT ordered in the qu'ran. what is stated in the qu'ran is that women should be modest, should not wear 'revealing' clothes. thus, you get extremists like the taleban stating that women HAVE to wear the hajib. they DO NOT. this is one helluva example where crappy cultures and traditions are interfering with religion and giving the wrong message about the religion
My ol' mum would argue that Taoism isn't like that, and shes ever so keen to have it included in the religion catagory, intresting that we tend to only think of religions as the orginised monotheistic or polytheistic ones, and ignore much else. (sorry, I know thats abit OT) This is inresting, and saddening, I'm of the belief that current cultural trends and ideas should not have an impact on a religion such as christianity and islam, its a shame that it obviously has had such an effect, to the extent where you get all these people protesting in France for the right to be supressed. Nice to know its not in the original holy texts though, my opinion just went up a little
if you type hijab into google and go the wikepedia result, its quite an interesting read it really is a shame that culture is having so much of an effect on religion, and sadly, those of the younger generation who have noticed such things are powerless to the more powerfull 'decision-makers'
I was making a bit of a generalisation (although I tend to think of Taoism as more of a philosophy, rather than a religion). All religion tends to be the product of various prophets who at one point or another re-interpreted their ancient scriptures, or proclaimed the Word of God as allegedly personally hand-delivered to them by celestial courier service. (CelEx?). Every religion claims that theirs is the One True Word of God, No, Honest, and that all the others are just deluding themselves with their misinterpretation and heathen ignorance. After all God didn't speak to them, not really (after all why should He when we are obviously so much more important than them), but delivered the God's Honest Truth only to our doorstep... and we have the scriptures to prove so. OK, yes, they have scriptures too, of course, but they were just made up, see? By a bunch of old men in beards. Ours were written by a bunch of old men in beards too, yes, OK, but you see, God actually spoke to them.... The scriptures say so, right here...
