Howdy all, Just built my new system: Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo ASUS nForce 590 p5n32-SLI Premium Corsair XMS2 DDR800 PC-6400 4-4-4-12 Leadtek 8800GTX Tagan 700W EasyCon XL The problem is that I get no signal to the monitor. I can put in my X800GTO and everything works fine (even with the ATI drivers unloaded). I have done a full update of windows, I am on nforce motherboard drivers v. 9.53 from nvidia.com, and have flashed the BIOS (successfully) with the latest BIOS (0603) from ASUS.com. I have more than enough power (700W @ 80% efficiency / 4 12V rails ea. with 20Amps (80A total)) and am running only a few devices - MoBo / CPU / Keyboard / Mouse / SB Audigy 2 ZS / 3-4 fans / Samsung 7200rpmm SATAII HDD / and of course the 8800GTX (which isn't working). Here's the drama - I can plug in the 8800GTX and connect both PCIx power cords, and power up - I get one POST beep (all good) and from the HDD activity light, it is clearly going to the Windows XP Home logon screen - however, there is no video output, nor is there any error beeps to report. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers Justin
Don't Double Post? 1. Is the card being picky sbout which PCI-E slot it goes in? 2. I know it may sound silly, but have you tried booting without the pci-e power connectors plugged in? It should just stall the clock speeds at boot and would let you know if the problems with the PSU. 3. What drivers you using?
Yeah...thanks for that. I'm pretty sure I said sorry. No haven't tried it without power, nor have I tried the other PCI-x16 slot. I'll give that a go. Drivers wise, I haven't even bothered installing the 97.44 forceware drivers (as the card has no image as yet)...With the MoBo, I am using the 9.53 nforce drivers. I also have the latest BIOS for the board (ASUS 0603).... Cheers, I'll post back my results when I'm done.
Have you tried connecting your monitor to both of the DVI outputs on the back of the card when you've tried booting? (One at a time obviously)
The 590 Series on the Intel side have had loads of problems, hence why they've been replaced with the 680i series now. Thats probably the problem
That mobo is terrible for starters but it doesnt sound like its the initial problem. Seems that you have already tried another card which would indicate that the card was iffy. Best bet would be to test it in another computer but that isnt always possible.
Okay, back... Yep, have tried both DVI outputs using a DVI cable (no luck), but tried the DVI-VGA adapter and managed (eventually) to get an output. However, the output was full of atifacts and there is definitely something wrong. Drivers wise, I tried both the drivers supplied by Leadtek and also the drivers from the nvidia support site (97.44 - Forceware) to no avail. The card does not install correctly and has the following error in the device manager - "This device cannot start (Code 10)"... Looks like back to the shop for you little buddy... . . . . . . . . .. .
Yeah - probably best to RMA that sucker. Tried googling 8800GTX artifacts and it looks like there's quite a few that are having problems with theirs ATM. Bad luck man.
