Its very easy to upgrade the ram. You remove the battery with a slider then remove a couple of small screws. Then its just sliding and cliping the ram into place. Shouldn't take more than a minute.

I just got some kingston ram if you go onto kingstons site there is the model number there for the mbp. It was the same stuff as apple use I discovered when I upgraded hehe.

    Not got oblivion sorry.

I had more of a play last night, I hooked up my belkin n52 and my logitech MX1000 and had a bit of a cs session. It was good, the problem was though that the headphone ports didn't work and its not running cs at is native resolution.

Also tried hooking up my lcd to the dvi port and it works fine. It doesn't work when you close the lid tho which is a pain. :(

Well after reading many many reviews online about the graphics adaptor, it seems it cant run anything.....UT04,HL2,D3,Farcry.....none of them.

thats well unfair,i really like the mac mini yet it has piss poor performance in most departments. I was seriously looking at a mbp yet i cant justify the £1.429 pricetag...yah sure it has nice specs and dual core but at that sortta price i could make a monster pc will specs far exceding what that price is offereng.

Ill get a mbp but only when i get a proper job.....not at the mo' as im still a student.

    You are so freakin' wrong.

Since bootcamp came out, at least 3 of my friends have said 'Hey, I might get one of those iMac things now they can boot windows'. And I'm actually thinking of selling my G4 to buy one.

So either A. Grow up, B. Don't post without engaging your brain (If you have one), or C. Look at the facts, think about the situation from our point of view and then post.

Oh, and have a read of that thing called a Dictionary.

Personally, I would have loved to buy a Mac ages ago if it wasn't for software compatibility issues. These are now a thing of the past. People now have a choice between buying something cheap and cheerful (standard PC), something flexible and easily modifyable and upgradeable (home-built PC) and something that oozes build quality, practicality and design (Mac). Moreover, people can now buy the best laptops ever built without worrying about OS issues. The newer Sony Vaio laptops are getting close, but nothing equals the sheer elegance and build quality of a Macbook, IMHO.

It is always good to have choices. Now if only Apple did a PDA. :D

Oh boy... Bring forth the shambling corpse of Newton! ;)

You see, they did do a PDA. One could even say that they invented the damn things (well, ok, they evolved from pocket computers and calculators, but the Term PDA is an out and out Appleism). But with the second comming of Steve-o, The Newt got crucified.

Much thanks Gordy. Maybe I'll google around to see how an x1600 (right?) handles Oblivion.

And great point Nexxo. While desktops definately remain the powerhouse systems that you've got a lot of room for customizing, you just want something solid and reliable for a Laptop, which is what Apple tends to deliver.

Like many Apple products, the Newt was far ahead of its time --too far, in this case. Technology could not yet live up to its innovative ideas...

What makes the Newton unequalled by any other PDA out there was that it actually interpreted the text that you jotted down. If you wrote: "Meeting 5.00pm next Wednesday" on the screen, it would actually make a diary entry called "Meeting" in the 5.00pm slot on the next Wednesday of the month...

That's the sort of coolness I'd expect from PDAs today: just a main screen on which you write an appointment, and it enters it in the diary. You jot down a name and phone number, and it will enter it in the address book. Even better, you jot down a name of someone in the address book, it calls up the details (address, phone, e-mail) automatically. Newton was on its way to achieving that.
