    All the images taken with a fujifilm finepix f20

    come out like this ::

    I'm sure it should be better quality than that, is there any settings or anything that i could try to get it better?

    Look in the manual for how to lower ISO speed. At the moment it's on 1600 apparently, which is fairly dire on most compacts. :thumb:

    Yep, it's set to ISO1600 which on most camera will give the same result, lots of noise.

    You could try:
    - Lowering noise reduction to minimum or turn it off.
    - Setting ISO as low as possible. Though this time of year anything below 200 is a challenge with the low amount of light. Just never go above 400.
    - Do NOT use digital zoom.

    Looking at the EXIF data from your picture shows that this was shot at ISO1600, Exp time 1/220, Aperture 4.6.
    All these suggest that you take control of your camera as the auto function obviously is crap.

    Firstly if there is a setting to set ISO at a Max try that first and see if this solves all you problems.
    Secondly try setting your camera to shoot at ISO 200 and an exposure time of 1/60 of a second.
    1/60 means you have to hold the camera steady while shooting.

    I usually use my Canon 350D, was just mucking about with this one and was surprised at the results -- from what I hear was a good camera. Noticed the ISO was high after putting it up here -- just took a while to find out how to find the EXIF data in photoshop.

    The issue with manual is you can either set the ISO level (down to 400 for eg) but then you can not turn off the flash (or as yet, I can not find out how to)

    Oddly enough, as noisy as that shot is I quite like it. It almost looks like a watercolor painting. If you took the black levels down just a touch to hide some of the noise in the bottom half, I feel like you could print it, frame it, and hang it on the wall.

    But yes, as the others have said, compact cameras don't play well with high ISO.
