I just got my display yesterday, wired it up according to the liquid mp3 wiring. It works fine with the animation player and the blinkenlights player but can't get liquid mp3 to run. All it seems to do is clear the bottom line over and over when i try to start the plugin. any ideas??
got the right portio for you OS... Make sure you have the NT version if you are in XP, 2K or other NT... Otherwise you have some of the wires with iffy connections...
OMG, I wish I've seen this thread earlier! Anyways, maybe it's not to late yet, so if there are still some unanswered questions... Btw, thank you for all the compliments about LiQuiD-MP3. This only encourages me to me it better Now if I only get that damned modelengine to work properly....
Hi, Zotty, I'd say welcome but you registered months ago! So good to see you again then. I'd say we've now heard from all the heavy hitters in graphic LCD/VFD software development in this thread.
/me waves to ChriX and thinks "man, is there any forum in this universe where this guy can't be found?" Yepz, I'm the creator of LiQuiD-MP3 and it's true I registered months ago (hi all ) But I don't post on forums as much as I used to anymore. I've got so many other things to do that posting has become a low priority thingy on my to-do list. But let's get back to the VFD stuff. I'll bet there's more to talk about!
Hey Zotty, When's the scroll gonna work on the Noritake for the title/track... All I get with it enabled is rolling hyrogliphics... Just wondering. Otherwise, Nice Plugin.
Scrolling indeed doesn't work on Noritake and KS0108B modules. Not yet anyways, because the scrolling routine is going to be rewritten. The current scroll code was written when I was still learning to code and it's pretty crappy Secondly, it's speed is dependant on the updatetime, and that is far from perfect. So when it's being rewriten, Noritake (and KS0108B) scolling will be working. Besides, scrolling per pixel looks great on VFD modules, so it has to work
I'm in the same boat... I have to be overlooking something somewhere... re-wired three times now using new parts.. I used 26 pin printer port header connectors from old mb's (they are keyed so you can't hose it up). But i'm still not any further than that orange glow. It's got to be something really obvious... isn't it always?
I had the same problem with just getting orange wires. I changed my parallel port settings in my bios from ECP to just a normal parallel port and everything started working.
Changing to SPP didn't help. Fuse is intact. Do thay all do the glowing orange thing upon initial power up?
Did ice only get two. Or more than two? This would clarify if it is a dead display or not because a cable that worked on one, would work on the two that act as mine.
Yes, All glow orange. and I thought I borked mine a couple times, I had to look twice, as I had the d0 thru d7 backwards at first... Got NOTHING out of it till I changed it.
If there are several persons wanting a little test app (using this wiring), I'm willing to make something. The demo's Henri made clap: ) work with WinIO if I'm not mistaken, so a little DLPortIO testing might still be usefull. Let me know if there's any interrest in this.
A test app sounds good, as I am still awaiting my displays and would really like to get a handle on the setup before touching the display.
If anyone is interested, I wrote a BlinkenLights player in VB yesterday. It uses DL Port IO. http://www.prokopski.org/vfd/BlinkenLights-NoritakeVFD-EXE.zip There are no movie files in the zip. You can get them here: http://www.blinkenlights.de/gallery/index.en.html
how's it work, i get: Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid can u help? :|
