I have recently purchased a Noritake graphic VFD, LCD compatible. It is 140 x 32 and works perfectly in character mode in both LCDSmartie and Crystal Fonts test program (using Generic 44780). However in Girder and also in an LCD addon for ShowShifter the characters frequently jump backwards and forwards and/or double up :eyebrow:

I'm sure that I read somewhere on this forum about adding a capacitor across a couple of the connections if there is a timing problem. Trouble is I can't find it again :blah:

Does anybody have any ideas please or know where I should look for that thread?
    thanks, Graham :D

Further to the above, I discovered some registry settings for the LCD under Girder3/SoftPlugins/LCD. There are two relevant entries which are ParallelCommandDelay & ParallelStrobeDelay. I changed these from both set to 2 (hex), to 1 (hex) for the first and 0 (hex) for the second. It seems as if Gider was sending character too slowly for the display and it was reading some characters twice. Dunno what values these represent, but Girder now displays characters beautifully. I just have to find how to adjust the plugin for ShowShifter,
    Graham :worried:
