ive just installed norton antivirus 2003 on a computer bcos it was slow and the old anti virus was crap... and i no its got 20+ virusis (sp) anyways after the install and the main restart it comes up with an error saying "some symantec product settings have been changed by an unauthorized program. this can indicate that an attacker or a virus is attemting to disable your protection" and then says that it will change the settings and what not in a restart... now ive done this several times and get the same window pop up..

also after the first warning it says it cant find some ccreg.dat file in the main folder.... ive installed it twice now and still get the same error...

now the computer is on 56k modem so i cant hook it up to my network :( to use the internet... to sort it out....

    any help?

have you tried booting from the norton cd to do a virus scan?

or can you take the harddrive out and hook it up to a computer to virus scan it and clean it thatway?

otherwise id just format and reload windows

Norton installation process WILL have problems with existing viruses.
As Vap0K177@r-22.C already mentioned, the best way to clean that thing would be to move the drive to another box.
You did say that there is no Intenet, but just in case things change, please keep in mind the option of online virus scans.

These removal removal tools and databases may also be useful.

    Hope this helps!
