As is the norm I went to buy my Sunday paper taking my cat with me as she loves a walk. I take a slightly longer way round to the newsagent which has less traffic so less bothersome to Millie the cat as although she does like to sniff the undersides of vehicles she is not keen on traffic. But I digress. Just at the corner of the street where the newsagent is and bumped into a neighbour, whilst chatting a bunch of teens came down the road and given their dress I assume they had been at a party. Next minute all hell breaks loose and a rather nasty scrap develops with one guy hitting another's head with a bottle , which fortunately did not break, but still must have been sore. Suddenly a hot hatchback comes screaming down the road and deliberately try to run people over. Now I assume the car driver was friends of one or the other side of the fighters yet did not seem to care who he ran over. But it seems a soon as it started it was over. One group went across the bus stop the other group got in the car with bloodied nose for the most part from what I could see. The whole thing scared the s*** out of my cat who had taken to hiding under a hedge. Should I have called the police? For a start neither of us had our phones and by the time the police had got around to responding, I suspect it would be Monday.
By the end of the story I'd forgotten about the neighbour, which made it sound like your cat owns a phone
Probably not unless you could give enough information to identify the driver, or it looked like the one that got twonked on the bonce would be interested in reporting it. Otherwise it would all be a bit wafty and go nowhere. S'pose there's an outside chance the fuzz would consider warning the owner of the car (assuming you got the reg) that it was witnessed being used in an anti-social manner (back in the day they had power to seize vehicles if used anti-socially I think), or the car could have between involved in another incident they're also investigating... So tl;Dr - depends how much useful info you can give on the car/driver. Perhaps your cat could give a statement, I'm sure she's very observant.
As it turns out the police were not remotely interested and I think that this would have been the case if I had A4 images of all the fighters and the VIN of the car involved. I called when I got home.
Read your thread on OCUK, I have to say I was loll'ing at some of the replies : https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18718298
Kronos, with respect, what did you expect the old bill to do when you felt the need to post a question on a forum debating whether or not you should have called them in the first place (a) having witnessed a punch up where someone got bottled b) a punch up where someone nearly got run over?). Surely give them a call, if a part index means nothing can be done so be it, but it might have been important at the time and they MIGHT (and a highlight the term MIGHT) have responded with a bit more urgency nearer the event. More impressed however that you can get a lead on your cat. My mogs go mad if I even try and put a collar on them!
She will not go on a lead, I did try to train her when I first got her from the rescue centre but she was to old for that sort of malarkey. She tend to follow me,particularly when she sees me putting on my coat. I am getting a kitten shortly and it will be trained to accept a lead. Most cats will accept it if you catch them young enough.
As expected from a pro, he catches his own cats from the wild. The group was probably arguing about weather they were too drunk or if they really did see someone walking their cat, and maybe one guy called his brother to come over and confirm it, who nearly ran everybody over because he was so excited to see a cat being taken for a walk.
