http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/...lers/Noctua/LGA1366SECUFIRM2MOUNTING-KIT.html £5? Or, you can phone Noctua and get them free if you already own the cooler. And why would you need a bracket if you didnt already own the cooler...
Doesn't surprise really - I'm disappointed with Novatech atm. I'm in the middle of a returns process (not an RMA since they sent the wrong thing) and it's taken over a month so far...
God dammit, is any retailer being decent these days? Having just abandoned Scan after years of loyal service for them screwing people on warranties and the whole MSI thing, I was hoping to switch to Ebuyer, CCL, and Novatech - in a week I've now been given good reasons to avoid all but CCL. Wish someone had some LGA1156 coolers
Seeing as they do say on the page that you can also get them for free what is the issue? Maybe some people are desperate for the bracket and don't want to wait to get a free one?
If you follow the link to get a free one you get this. LGA1366 Mounting-Kit Order Form The LGA1366 SecuFirm2™ Mounting-Kit is no longer available. Please order the new NM-I3 Kit in order to be able to install Noctua CPU coolers on LGA1366.
If you want a new e-tailer I can heavily recommend Specialtech. I had a return (thanks to a mixup from a non-existent item) with them and they were incredibly pleasant, they even put me straight through to the CS manager immediately via email when they realised I'd been sent something by mistake, I didn't even ask.
i had a dodgy initial experience with specialtech (took over two months to get my money back for faulty RAM) but after hearing a lot of positive things about them and a tentative second order from me, i am slowly warming to them once more. I still like Scan, always been pretty reliable.
Scan is very reliable. for the Dominator RAM i bought last week, i put down the wrong address, phoned them at 9:15am, a person answered and changed the address for me, 10:30, item arrived for fiver, it's a bit too much. if it's a quid for stocking charges, then it's very reasonable.
Doesn't surprise me. Not at all the only place I've seen charge for it. I can understand why some people might want to get one that way, though. Sure, you could get it for free from Noctua, but it shipped from their HQ (in Austria), which could take over two weeks depending on where in the world you live. So some who didn't know about the incompatibility before might actually find the paid option to be a benefit, especially if they got all the other components for a new 920-based PC at the same time. A free kit in two weeks or £5 for the same thing in two days? If I was in their shoes, I know which route I'd take. (Hint: the route that would get my new PC up and running twelve days earlier). - Diosjenin -
That still sucks balls though, it should be a god damn free kit on their site that you can only order in conjunction with the appropriate heatsink.
it's not as bad as NCIX (biggest comp store in canada) selling the noctua case badge for $10 when noctua will send you one for free.
