Hi, Hoping for some help from some of the knowledgeable folks here! Building experience = none Currency = Euro Budget: Not fixed as such, but i'd like to bring it in around 900 euro, including Operating system Main uses of intended build: Dual boot: Windows 7 - gaming (not ultra high-end), iPod/iTunes Ubuntu - browsing, downloading, watching videos (inc HD), listening to music, office work Parts required: I'll list the parts required and some of my thoughts on what i might go for: MOBO - MSI 770 C45 (60 euro) Processor - AMD phenom ii X4 955 (140 euro) RAM - 2*2gb DDR3 1333 (100 euro) HDD - 1TB 7200rpm Hitatchi (70 euro) Video - Radeon HD5770 (140 euro) Case - Antec 200 (40 euro) PSU - Corsair VX 550 (80 euro) Optical - Samsung DVD RW - (20 euro) Monitor - LG HD 22" (150 euro) OS - Windows 7 Home Premium (100 euro) Total - ~ 900 euro will you be overclocking: yes/no (delete as required) Not really in the know about Overclocking, but i guess the extra performance would be nice. One comment i got from someone on another forum was that the above MOBO couldn't handle the X4 overclocking? Extra information about desired system:[/B] nope
Only thing I'd ask is why quad core For this budget it's nigh on crazy Look atthe budget build on this site aquire that CPU get a decent cooler Duel core 3ghz beats quad core 2.6ghz In games anyway rest if build is nice, just you have to question. If you must have quad core or not as if you do I'd go intel every time
It's a 3.2 GHZ Quad-core: http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/4291725/art/amd/phenom-ii-x4-955-3-2-ghz.html The main reason i went for the AMD is because of it's price. Certainly it scores lower than the core i5 750, but it's 50-60 euro cheaper.
For a £785 budget, surely a quad core is first on the list?! Hell, I'd consider an i5 750 based build - I managed to build a rig recently for a friend using the i5 750 for ~£600.
yup id be thinking about an i5 750, and maybe 1600mhz RAM if your budget can stretch to that. in any case try and get a samsung F3 1gb, its about as fast as you will get in a regular HD. good to see you arent skimping on the PSU (lots of newbies do that)
