I think it is good that it is being delayed, they are making sure it works before getting it out. I'm sure they could release it now and send out a massive service pack to fix it. Personally I wont be getting Vista untill I have to, when games require Vista to run.

i agree with r4chet on the fact that i wont be getting it till i need to. but this thing is going to be a hi level users nightmare. anyone that just wants ti to do its intended job as an OS is going to have a living hell. i really hope there will be a LiteVista released. this OS will NEED to be trimmed down allot. I'm actually considering buying this one. mostly cause i don't want hassles, but i feel like this is going to be one anyway.

i cant imagine how long the delays would have been if they did what they were originally planning on doing, which was a complete redesign of the core of the OS. but instead they realized they couldn't do anything original (ALWAYS been M$'s problem) so they scrapped that idea, and now we have another in the long line of NT based OS's. Other than requiring it for DirectX 10, this this OS is going to be HORRIBLE. M$'s LOVES inefficiency. Every new resource and advantage will be swallowed up by this system. useless toys. things that will get boring after the first week of playing with them. they really need a gamers version of the OS.

Do you use Linux then? Or are you a Windows user?

    Curious.

Wow... For once, M$ realized that there would be delays, and they named the product accordingly. Amazing.

I'm going to get Windows Vista Ultimate when it comes out, I'm building a Media Center out of my PC and Vista with Media Center would be nice.
Also my PC will get an upgrade before that, my current setup is weak.
I need more power before I can get vista, and I heard Halo 2 will come out for the PC and it will need Vista to be able to run, I played Halo 2 on my 360 and it looks pretty nice, a little bit better than running it from the original xbox, but if you look at the difference from Halo 1 on the PC and the Xbox, you will see a big difference in graphics. Hopefully Halo 2 will look Better on the PC.

I'm glad M$ is delaying it so it can run without problems, and no blue screen of death.

I'm currently running the 32bit version of Vista beta 2 build 5342 Ultimate. Although it's a little buggy - it's a very nice system to use. I could do with a little more memory though as 512MB really isn't enough.

Overall I'm pretty impressed. It's nice and secure and needs permission to do the simplest of things - although it does get annoying sometimes.

Despite the fact they haven't actually said what 'special extras' are going into ultimate to justify the premium price?

    My thoughts exactly.

Don't really care too much about office, as long as previous versions run OK in the mean time. If they delay Vista any further I'll start to get peaved though.
