128 and 256 are too little really nowadays. 512 is probably what you want as it is the maximum current and "future" games require...if you are into serious image editing or movie editing etc then 1GB might be xtra useful.
if you do heavy duty design like CAD or ProDesktop then a gig is fine...for normal people 512 is enough...Although I would love a gig too

my main machine is 900mhz with 384mb of sdram its fast but it could be faster i would greatly benefit by making the other pc my main pc and getting 512mb ram and new ati radeon 9800 all in wonder video card but its funny when i have time i have no money when i have money i have no time
there is nothing particularly wrong with creative cards, as long as you don't use the drivers they wrote!! I use the kxproject drivers and my card is now an amazing card that was relatively cheap.
